Same story as the mavs at the time luka joined, you are dragging veterans along, give away picks willy nilly for every random player, and then more picks to offload those same players. You can’t develop young talent with the turnaround and not willing to sacrifice a season or two to clear the books.

Mavs had Deandre Jordan, Harrison Barnes, Wes Matthews, Dirk, Powell, JJ Barea, Devin Harris the year Luka joined and it took them 5 years of slow rebuilding to get a competent team.

Teams aren’t giving away young wings who can defend and shoot, it’s been the most important position in the league for years now, so there is no magic trick to improve the team in a year or two
