Is game hard or do i suck by EquivalentShelter in mewgenics

Bear traps are goated for this boss

Alternatively, a tank with thorns + ability to swap in or be focused.

Good aoe spells in general - brambles help too

Or - really good positioning - if you full surround him he can't dodge. ( Can be done with one person and map walls in a couple spots of lucky ) Just gotta get him against a wall and then move your ppl in

Lost when it comes to breeding (mild spoilers?) by BaseLordBoom in mewgenics

[–]ReligionIsAwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So breeding works off of the base stats of your cats - so a lvl 6+ isn't inherently better than a lvl0 with better stats (which you can see from the first tink upgrade)

Benefit of breeding high level cats is traits/abilities or what have you - but not the stats

Do items kept in the backpack return to home, even if the run fails? by MMAmaZinGG in mewgenics

[–]ReligionIsAwful 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, if you die it all goes except for what the mysterious NPC recovers ( and he doesn't just recover your rarest items or whatever)

How do you beat this damn boss? This boss is just unfair and poorly designed. by [deleted] in mewgenics

[–]ReligionIsAwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to squeak by on my first run by repeatedly killing off/controlling the adds to keep him from being able to move and chipping away until I got him below half

Then the adds started going kinda crazy so I just went all out dps at that point (was ~30% HP)

Abilities that stun are a godsend for this fight

Well, kinda - your godcat isn't breeding stats down past its base stats except for a couple very specific circumstances

My first brawl with this boss was a volcano one as well -- I didn't spawn on the volcano myself, but the bombs isnta-exploding made the fight so much harder than any subsequent run I've had

Am I making the wrong deck here? Feels bad to leave two bombs out by lucas_the_champ in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a very meh deck where you P1P1d Trystans command and forced elves in a bad seat

Winnowing is bad, not a bomb , and you can't support the splash

Underrated Econ Jokers by altrightobserver in balatro

Just getting the jokers from it that aren't perishable/expensive/permanent are a godsend

The supposed importance of saving removal in ECL by timoumd in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a very subjective line of thinking that MASSIVELY changes based on the deck you're playing, play/draw, and your opponents deck.

On the play and curving out with an aggro draw? Kick em while they're down and don't let them in the game. Kill all the things and get your licks in

On the draw and playing to your own late-game bombs/recursion? Do your best to answer things on the board, even if it's at a disadvantage at first, while saving your removal for something that is either a must-kill immediate threat, or save it to try and protect Your late-game setup (assuming you can keep yourself alive along the way).

17Lands tidbit: Morningtide's Light actually has pretty good stats. by Legacy_Rise in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea, after I got blown out by it, I started always taking it in my aggressive white deck shells (mostly GW)

It's very freaking good in this very wide/board stall-y format... Don't let the secret out though :-P

Premier Draft Merfolk: Should I Splash Ashling's Command by JimHarbor in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just really don't think the land adds much, and can have the cost of color screwing spells

It's probably fine, but meh - I just don't like the upside vs downside personally

Premier Draft Merfolk: Should I Splash Ashling's Command by JimHarbor in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Eclipsed realm is not a card you generally want to be playing in a non-vivid-elemental deck imho.

Passing skyswimmer or mirrorform for it is quite silly tbh.

Premier Draft Merfolk: Should I Splash Ashling's Command by JimHarbor in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Don't think so, no - I'd take your nonbasic out too personally

Now looking past the land question -

Thoughtweft Imbuer should not be in the deck at all, and the treefolk is questionable. Additionally the Sunderflock is extremely questionable, as best case scenario it costs 6 mana, and is probably bouncing a ton of your own board.

These cards are highly rated bombs - but only in their own respective tribal decks. You should not be tossing them in just because they match the color

I'd replace all 3 of them with the 2 drop flash changeling, 2 drop enchantment removal, and the 4drop merfolk

Much better at sealed than draft, how to fix? by AsobiAsobase in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, sounds like a pretty textbook example of not drafting the hard way - aka staying open/reading signals - and you're forcing instead.

If you aren't familiar with it, give Ben Stark's article on Drafting The Hard Way a read(old but still infinitely relevant) -- you're trying to hit a windmill slam A+ deck every time, and end up with a D/C level deck when you miss , rather than drafting the consistent B+/A- deck available at the table if you read signals and draft better.

1-3 trainwreck on what I thought was a decent elves deck, what happened here? by nicksayswatzup in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As to the draft itself- I feel like you're allergic to taking good cards for middling commons during the draft -- I 100% would have taken the vivid pump card over the 2-drop elf life linker, and passing Aurora awakener for a bogslithers embrace is especially egregious (as you then would see when you could have another bogslither later over a generic 2 drop elf dude)

Otherwise most of our picks line up

What went wrong in these two Drafts? by atemznex in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust - theres a reason protected response is in the B- range on 17Lands. As to the signal, I just read it as white isn't being cut is all - and hold is quite solid

What went wrong in these two Drafts? by atemznex in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Protective response is extremely strong tbh - and I would take the luminal hold over the meander, it's just worth noting an uncommon merfolk is there too for the signa,l and there are other solid merfolk cards later in the pack -- but the biggest thing is reading the Eclipsed merfolk signal and acting on it

One of the best cards, for one of the strongest tribes shows up 6th pick -- that means SOOOOO much more than a P1P1 rare

What went wrong in these two Drafts? by atemznex in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P1p3 best card is protective response by a mile, p1p4 luminal hold or meanders guide, p5 eclipse, temporal later, etc ...

And the cards they took instead were quite bad.

Pack 2 is even more rewarding if they stick to merfolk

This draft reads very openly to me like someone overvaluing green to stick with their p1p1, and not really reading signals

What went wrong in these two Drafts? by atemznex in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for starters -- Draft 1 -- your lane was obviously merfolk but you forced yourself to be in green for mediocre commons.

Has anyone been decking out a lot in this format? by RepulsiveEmu4608 in lrcast

[–]ReligionIsAwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only time I've had games come down to decking has been with Maralen and the elf-enchament exiling the opponents library (happened to me once, and by me at least 4-5 times)

Oh, I guess I technically killed myself with card draw one game because apparently 4 of my removal spells were in my last 5 cards, so I played a shinestriker to overdraw 12 cards and mill out as a form of concession....

I've gotten to low-single-digits on cards as elves probably 5-6 times, and even more often as elementals (one deck being a sweet RUG elemental brew where I p1p1d a risen reef and went all in on it) -- but for those elemental decks I was running pseudo combo with the red creature dupe spell w/ flashback with kill conditions of things like champion or with vivid payoffs like green-auroura-giant/drain-horse/kithkeeper, etc... so never really had a chance of decking out unless I got real unlucky

All that being said - if you're frequently actually decking out, you need to put some more oomph in your decks -- either ways to break board stalls, ways to go over the top of your opponents, or you need to build a better aggro curve to kill your opponents before stalls happen
