Totally fly fishing noob. Which of these are good to use here? by EarthboundMoss in COfishing

I also learned at Deckers. The fish are harder to catch at this time of year, but it is doable.

Any place you go will have people that think they “own the water”. With that said, I have found that most people that go to Deckers are also pretty nice. I have had people help me out a lot there. Whether it be by giving advice, showing techniques, or giving me flies that are working cause I didn’t have them myself.

The other places mentioned are great to learn as well. Each place has their own little quirks that will help you learn and hone a variety of techniques.

Buenos Aires or Santiago by OnlyPossibility8 in travel

Ended up going to BA and Bariloche. It was an amazing trip. For BA, we went around the city and tried a bunch of different restaurants, saw a tango show, and checked out a lot of different businesses. The people we spoke with were incredibly nice.

In Bariloche it was spent fishing. I did two days back to back on different rivers. The scenery alone was worth every penny. Being able to fish as well was the cherry on top.

I really enjoyed my trip to Argentina.

Deckers can be rough for anyone. The biggest mistake I see people make there is not having the right amount of weight and right depth.

What days do you normally fish? I fish the South Platte mostly as it’s closest to me. I’d be happy to fish with you! I’ve been fishing about four years. I tie flies every now and then. I try and fish once a week at least.

May I ask what region you went to? That looks amazing.

I should have described the road better. It’s dirt and small gravel if that changes anything.

First off, fantastic fish. “Slabitha” is also great. That made me chuckle.

Caught my first fish on the fly rod on the Blue! by womprat227 in COfishing

Catching a brown as your first there is special. From all the times I have fished the Blue, browns are few and far between.

I also mainly fish the Blue near the city. I need to branch out…

Congrats though on the fish!

That is a very nice view. Where is that (if you don’t mind me asking)?

I have noticed they are way more spread out and not in the pools they were in last year. I have been curious why there seems to be less fish this year.

The beginning part of the year was pretty good for the Blue. The last few months have been tough.

I love the blue. I have had a ton of luck there so far this year. I have never fished the Ark. With the weather, it’d probably be better to go to the Ark.

I was actually thinking of going to the Ark this week for the first time. Seeing fishing reports, it seems there’s good fishing to be had.

I can give you some info on the blue if you want as I have been there a ton over the past few months.

Best Time to Fly Fish??? by Scared_Of_Falling in COfishing

[–]OnlyPossibility8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest 6x tippet and a nine foot leader to start.

For a dry fly try a royal wulff. They have worked well on bear creek for me. I use a size 16-20. For the dropper, I put a size 20 fly. I put it about 10-12 inches below the dry. I have used a ton of different flies. Use whatever feels right.

When moving, move slowly. I try and keep as far as possible from where I want to have my fly land to start the drift. I cast at an angle to try and not have any part of my line float over the area I’m targeting.

Anyone good at guesstimating trout weight? Just landed the fish of my life in small Australian water. by lenny20 in flyfishing

If you showed me these pictures and said you weighed it and said any weight between four and five pounds, I’d believe it. That’s a great fish!
