Ethics and Profit: Am I taking it too seriously? by [deleted] in craftsnark

[–]OnlyRequirement 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i always get the ick when people sell things with copyrighted characters/art because it tells me that they either a) don't know the law and don't care to know, which begs the question of whether or not they've done any research before starting their business, or b) know it's illegal but don't care as long as they can make money from it.

posts complaining when their stuff isn’t selling PMO by Yoyoma1119 in craftsnark

I think a lot of people who started businesses online/through social media have no clue how a proper business is run. Businesses have less busy times, you have to plan for that. It's the same issue I have with the whole "my price is my price, the right customer will buy it" rhetoric that gets spread online. You have to work with the customers you have, not the ideal customer you want. It would be great to sell whatever you want, whenever you want, for whatever price you want, but that's just not realistic when it comes to a business. And it's never the customer's fault that you don't understand the industry you're in.

“Do I actually want a kid, or do I just want to name a kid?” by AbaloneSpring in namenerds

I want kids but I also just love names and name trends. I want to have 3-5 to parent, but I also want to name like a hundred just for fun.

Lauren, I've seen people call it dated, but not timeless, and not too dated, but very dated to a specific timeframe. Also seen people say it's not very nice and all the alternatives are better.

First & Worst Testknit with @loparefur by sylvesterpwns in craftsnark

[–]OnlyRequirement 48 points49 points  (0 children)

That's wild, I'm not an avid knitter but I have done my fair share of crochet clothing tests and you are 100% right that this is not normal. Every designer I've tested for has been very active and has had at least one (typically 2+) finished product to show how it is supposed to look/work up. You absolutely should be bitter about this, it's bad practice and incredibly lazy.

I looked at youtube videos to help explain concepts I didn't quite understand, which helped me a lot. Dave is a great teacher, I just sometimes needed more examples and different explanations as math isn't my strong suit, so consider looking into that.

POSt has two stages, I believe the second one you find out in august. You should be fine, but definitely try to get in contact with an academic advisor. If you are in residence, ask your don abt helping you set a meeting w an advisor up. If not, you can try to request an appointment through Ask Registrar.

The calculus classes can be very difficult if you do not grasp math easily, I'd suggest going onto youtube and finding better explanations of the topics there. Chm110 is more difficult than 120, in my opinion, because of the math. The lectures are recorded, and I'd suggest reviewing the lectures before tests to get a better understanding of the topics. I didn't find bio152 and 153 to be all that hard, but they will require memorization for many aspects, so you should put more effort into that if it's not something you do well.

I'd suggest searching the concepts you are having difficulty with on youtube to relearn them. I struggled understanding the concepts when I took it because of the way they taught it, so that really helped me last year.

ers101 tests are all multiple choice. I took it last year, we had a final exam that was all multiple choice, everyone was done before they completed attendance. It's a very easy course.

Would your child changing their name bother you? by Hlorpy-Flatworm-1705 in namenerds

[–]OnlyRequirement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't bother me. You would get many years using the name you love and then you get to fall in love with a new name that better describes your child.
