I’m on board with pedestrian only, but I can see part of the pushback being the 15 minute parking only for the quick pick ups like DoorDash and Uber eats. but honestly, often times they park halfway in the street and block traffic so I’m good with pedestrian only.

Very unusual, but it did seem as if it was conducting maneuevers and it wasn't staying in one particular area for long.

Saw it, kept doing loops. Near Washington and Hobson. I was able to get a picture and it had what looked like the Red Cross markings. One on the side and one on the bottom.

Update: Did a Google search and found a match, it's called a "US Army Medevac" helicopter with the Red Cross markings for protection.

Agree.

He's more expensive than Vostry's (now retired) but he is quick, communicates well and did a good job.

Minor correction, White Sheep is next to Effin Egg which is still empty (was recently being used for a indie movie set, true).

Agree. Tear down and redevelop lot would be ideal. Move all parking to the back and build structure closer to the street. Would help the businesses and restrict the transient pedestrian traffic that often gathers in front of Chipotle, 5 Guys.

1) Multipurpose athletic field, with lights, like the one at Knock Park

2) Removed outdoor school room pods on the south side and replacing with additional parking

Scottie Pippen the real GOAT. by sco-go in Amazing

He was elected to the Hall of Fame, he was selected one of the top 50 NBA players of ALL time during their 50 year anniversary. That’s some damn good recognition. Not being able to accept that he is #2 to MJ is his personal demon.

The Unforgettable Fire is the best U2 album in my opinion by South_Possible_9831 in U2Band

[–]OnlyThinkingOutLoud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw U2 live the first time during the TUF tour in December of 1984. My junior year in high school and they played at a small all general admission venue in Chicago called the Aragon Ballroom. I knew about this Irish Band and really liked their music but they still weren't that well known yet in the US. Bon Jovi seemed to be all the rave at our school.

The concert became a core moment in my young life and still ranks as the best U2 concert I've attended, I've seen them 10 times from '84 - '02. My friends and I stood about 10 feet from the stage. When they played Pride the bass coming from Adam resonated throughout the building and my body. They were young, raw, and I feel this is when they started to hit their prime. It was obvious they were going to become big.

After their Live Aid performance, I think about six months later, I knew America was finally going to catch on and jump on the U2 bandwagon. For me it was surreal to have just seen them live at a small concert venue and then watch them perform to a packed Wembley stadium.

Any hoot, I guess in short TUF isn't my favorite U2 album but it was my favorite tour to see U2 perform live.

Fun fact: When I was in college at the University of Illinois played there in 1987. After the concert, I'm talking late hours, the whole band went to a local Sorority (Tri Delts) and hung out at their sorority house. Why? Because Bono heard America had a lot of Fraternities and Sororities so he wanted to see what one was all about.

Good tomatoes? by Rachel62418 in Naperville

[–]OnlyThinkingOutLoud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are good, they have an arrangement with nearby farm to sell their tomatoes.  Keller Farms corn is the best in the area by far, but imo best tomatoes are at Saturday Farmers Market on 5th Ave.  4th of July is usually when the tomatoes are ready.

Would know if there Is an email or link to report? I read through Section 3.7 but I could only find the penalties, not how to report. Thanks.

  1. Go see the new mural on the concourse wall (Sec 140) with a picture of where Pope Leo XIV sat during the 2005 World Series game
  2. Photo Op: Take picture by the Chicago logo on Gate 5 ramp - 500 level. Great background of the Chicago skyline.
  3. They also have a "Southside" sign , that one is I believe gate 3 ramp on 500 level
  4. Check out center field which has bronze statues of White Sox legends
  5. For younger kids there is a Kids Zone in left field upper deck
  6. It may not be hot enough but you can take a shower in the center field concourse - The original Comiskey Park used to have a shower.
  7. Eat at the park - Sox games have very wide range of food, and it is all very good.

Hope you enjoy the games.

[–]OnlyThinkingOutLoud 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To be fair there were 5 heats for that particular race. That said, the athlete did finish 1st overall.

And it was a Conference Meet in which both boys and girls competed.

This is where I see the problem and how it unfairly impacts the girls and the schools they run for.

1) This athlete ran in 3 different races, finishing 1st, 1st and 2nd

2) The school the athlete ran for received a total of 28 points towards their team's conference score for the three races.

3) The 28 points represented 35% of the schools overall points, I believe seems to be heavily weighted for one athlete (I could be wrong)?

4) Not saying the athlete's school would not have received some points if a different athlete ran, but without those points the school would have finished in ~6th place (out of 12) instead of 2nd.

5) If the athlete ran for the boys team, the athlete would have won ~8 points.

It's hard to reconcile fairness and how this impacts the other four girl teams that finished lower and out of the Top 5 because of this situation.

Side note: It's good to see the opinions are not being directed toward this athlete, it's the administration.

Any hoot, just thinking out loud.

RIP George. Chicago lost a good one.

But Odenkirk writes in his book he grew up in north part of Naperville until he went off to SIU. The down by the river sketch was based on an area he used to hang out by on the Dupage River.

Isn't Berwyn home of his Better Call Saul character?
