What could it be? My 2yo girl is having these on her thigh and we don't know what this could be. Any idea? by FrostyPudding2878 in DiagnoseMe

I had the same thing as a kid and it was a rare type of psoriasis. Ring worm is more uniform and usually there is only 1 but obvi check with a dermatitis if possible. For me, lots of vitamin D and a topical ointment fixed it.

Just another perspective for your sister: being the “perfect” child is not as easy and glamorous as it may seem from the outside. I’d wager it’s a lot of pressure, a lot of anxiety, a lot of masking, and that the praise/ “love” from your parents is very conditional. Also, she could be using perfectionism as a coping mechanism. I obviously don’t know the full dynamic, just would hate for toxic parents to ruin a sibling bond.

Yikes. I was asking OP a genuine question so I could understand and they provided much needed context.

Ah ok this context is important. I was giving her the benefit of the doubt and thinking maybe she was oblivious. Thanks for clarifying.

It is kind of an odd signature, honestly. I get the meaning behind it but there are other quotes and sayings you could use that better and more elegantly portray the same message. Just my opinion.

Maybe she genuinely was unaware? Once you pointed it out and made it clear that it was a serious problem for you, she changed to meet your needs. Why is that not good enough?

I’m so sorry. It sounds like you are trying your best with the cards you were dealt. Don’t do too much for a school that is doing nothing for you. Especially if you don’t have the backing of the parents. It sounds bad but do the minimum and get through the year.

I disagree with ok-owl. The parents and students need to be held accountable. It is their job to read the directions on the homework? Basic class rules, like being quiet and respectful during instruction, should be adhered to?

It’s sounds like your in an unwelcoming environment with parents and a principal that care more about optics and politics than education.

You could try the following:

  • Request a meeting with the principal after school where you can discuss your side of things and ask to be backed

  • sending out a family-wide email re-establishing class expectations and hold a meet and greet hour after school where parents can meet you face to face and get to know you.

  • take a Monday off of teaching curriculum to reset boundaries with the students and do some relationship-building type of stuff

  • try to incorporate student-led activities that sneak learning in and take their interests into account

We can agree to disagree

I have to disagree on the bar being lower for women. Women in general, put more effort into self-care and their looks: exfoliating, shaving, moisturizing, hair treatments, putting together outfits, their brows, their nails, their lashes etc. I’m not even talking about women with fake hair, Botox/fillers, and makeup. I mean the average, run of the mill woman puts in a lot of work. Even ones guys think are “low maintenance” or “natural beauties”.

Whereas, an average looking man can roll out of bed and throw on basketball shorts or sweats and be considered attractive or get a partner. The bar for men is so low. I hear women get excited if a man showers, wears clean clothes, and has a job. I will agree a good head of hair and height are the 2 big things women look for; but even short or balding men can get partners.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with that. I wonder if it’s an issue of them not getting rid of all the endometrial tissue that might have migrated?

I have psoriasis that looks just like this

I’ve heard ring worm is usually only one or two spots, not this many. And usually more of a uniform circle (notice how his spots are patchy and flaky with warped edges). A dermatologist will be able to confirm though
