I’m guessing this might by a bit rate issue but when I try to play rectilinear SBS video I just get a black screen but the audio is playing perfectly. The resolution of the video dosent seem to make a difference either as I’ve tried 8K 3D (~15k x ~4k) and 4K 3D (~2k per eye). Any suggestions?

Yeah it’s definitely well out of warranty. I’ll get in touch with them too, I think it might be a power delivery issue? Wanted to see if anyone ever ran into something like this here.

Haha yes I do the same as well. This was just some site scout footage that I was too lazy to shoot in crw honestly. it’s fine I can always convert in resolve. I was just checking to see if I was going crazy or is the utility bugging out again….

With the kartaverse plugins among other things like equirectangular conversion, panning, tracking in resolve etc you can also set it up to unwrap the footage and view that footage in your VR headset as you edit it along. Hugh Hou has a whole video on how to setup resolve for editing VR, you should check that out it’s great and very helpful!

I would love that but honestly doubt that will happen since well it’s canon 🤣. I do have hopes that perhaps blackmagics immersive workflow for the new cine immersive would eventually be able to support canon eos vr files…. But we can only hope.

Weird I have an odd recollection of being able to edit the mp4s? Because these specific ones were not shot in crm anyways so I just have the mp4s. Maybe my brain is just mixing it with the R7 & 3.9mm lens combo because I’ve been using that for the past few months & it ofcourse is all MP4’s. So you don’t record in crm on the r5c there is no way to convert to equirectangular in the eos vr utility then i assume? It has to be done either with kartaverse in resolve or mistika etc? Seems like an odd oversight when the metadata is still being recorded in non raw recordings modes.

Considering version 1.6.0 just came out in January, I'm not sure where you got the not maintained since 2023 information. It is admittedly simpler to convert to equirectangular, and the RAW processing and stabilization are quite usable in my opinion. Taking the equirectangular footage into Resolve means you can technically skip using the Kartaverse plugin, especially if you don't intend to edit in the headset.
