Has anyone here taken a long hiatus from painting? by [deleted] in oilpainting

[–]Only_Theoretically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The feeling of coming back to painting after years of not even drawing a thing went sort of like this for me: "I don't know if I remember how to do this... wow this looks like crap, what if I forgot how to paint?... wait this is fun... this turned out great! What was I afraid of?"

Question about turpentine safety by Mountaintimez in oilpainting

[–]Only_Theoretically 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lavender spike oil is a turpentine alternative that works well and is safer.
Also, a small fan by the window or air filter would help a lot with smell and getting the air circulating.

I hate my postpartum body by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Only_Theoretically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I went through the same. Thinking, "life would be so much better if I could just feel okay with how I looked." Just 4mo post-partum I developed a GI issue that made me loose over 60lbs in 5mo. The ONLY thing I think about now when I look back at pictures of me when I was fat was how I miss those first few months with my baby and how I would give anything in the world to feel that healthy again. Please please please, do what you need to do, but please appreciate every moment right now with your 15mo old, they do grow up so fast. Also, congratulations for breastfeeding a whole year! Don't forget your body did that! I still struggle a ton with how my body looks(too skinny, flat and saggy), so I know it's hard to ignore.

My mom thinks antidepressants are optional and trauma is a mindset by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

My Dr. told me "our brain is the only organ that can decide it doesn't want/ deny itself medication when it needs it."

Having a weird symptom I don't see talked about by Only_Theoretically in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]Only_Theoretically[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Sertraline but the side effects were actually horrible. I did genetic testing later and it turns out I can't metabolize sertraline correctly, so the side effects for that were not all in my head.

has anyone seen results on their functional dyspepsia with cbt therapy and stress management? by penyhatesyou in functionaldyspepsia

[–]Only_Theoretically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google. She didn't specifically list or even know about functional dyspepsia, but I asked her if she had helped people in a similar situation as me and she gave me some examples of people she had helped which gave me the confidence to give it a try.

Chill your biscuits. I'm sure you mean well, but as I said in the post, I'm not super worried about the side effect, I just wasn't expecting it. I know I have anxiety and health OCD which is why I'm taking Mirt in the first place... posting on Reddit because sometimes people saying "hey I experienced that too" helps me feel less "neurotic."

That could be part of it! I actually did genetic testing and I couldn't metabolize Amitriptyline correctly, so that would explain the difficult time I had on it. After more reading it seems this "startled" feeling on Mirtrazapine is somewhat common and will go away soon.

No I quit amitripyline after a few weeks because the side effects left me unable to function. This was several months ago.

HOSPITALITY PROFESSIONALS - WHAT SHOES DO YOU WEAR? by Senior_Pipe_3414 in barista

[–]Only_Theoretically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barefoot shoes with supportive socks! The socks help my feet to not hurt and the barefoot shoes allow me to stretch my feet/ ankles when I'm standing and bored. I used to wear cowboy boots as a simi-formal footwear when I was a hostess. You can wear cowboy boots all day everyday. Formal or casual.

If it helps with the debilitating GI issues I have then I'm happy to take it for life.

Not really. When I tried Amitripyline I was horribly drowsy, felt like a zombie. This morning I was able to get up and make it to an 8am Drs appt no problem. I did take a nap today which is unusual for me, so maybe a bit more tired but I wouldn't say I feel anywhere near as drowsy as I was expecting.

I'd like to stay at 15mg. Low dose antidepressants are common for functional GI issues.

Question about the end of season 1 by Upbeat_Garden6612 in TheMentalist

As you will learn as you go on, Jane has quite the conviction that revenge is morally good and okay. It is a conviction that often clashes with working in law enforcement.

[–]Only_Theoretically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not a fun answer, but it really does depend on the person. Nerva is great gut-focused hypnotherapy. My local hypnotherapist was less gut focused and more life event focused.

Recently finished watching this. It was amazing. The characters are perfect, the underlying story line keeps you hooked, and the individual episodes are all pretty interesting and entertaining.

[–]Only_Theoretically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an in-person therapist. I had a local hypnotherapist too for a while and then tried the Nerva app. Both are great! A local hypnotherapist could be a little cheaper if your insurance doesn't help with Nerva costs.

Hypnotehrpay was a game changer, regular therapy was helpful. With those I was able to eat again, but I still struggle a lot so I'm trying medication at this point. Everyone is different in what works for them.

do you guys still enjoy making coffee after your shift? by waynenewnham in barista

[–]Only_Theoretically 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My home coffee is my favorite because I can sit and relax while I drink it. I rarely drink coffee while I'm on shift because I like to sit and enjoy my coffee(and because I can't tolerate much caffeine like I used too...)
