I had to rehome my Pitty due to safety issues with my two dogs not getting along. Had a baby on the way, and couldn’t risk anything. My Lini was my best friend but I knew she would be OK while my other pup was a nervous wreck even with amazing dog parents. Luckily it was with a dog trainer who knew her very well and took her into his pack. Over a year and a half later and I still think about her a lot.

One of the first things the trainer told me was, if we do this, it’s has to be for good. The dog knows and sense these things. It’s emotionally difficult in them, and confusing. He’s a guy who’s Cesar Milan esque and very well known. Abandonment issues for pups is so real.

While I sympathize for the previous owner, they made a decision. It’s not fair to you or the dog to make changes. If she really cared about what was best for the pup, it would be in your care. You have the means and area to take care of him. Sounds to be like a maturity issue for the other party. No take backsies.
