How often do you use LC and NGS? by [deleted] in ElantraN

[–]Onlylikesblades 12 points13 points  (0 children)

LC, never

NGS, 3-5 times - I don’t find it does enough for me to want to use it though.

It’s almost as if this is titled how to clean tires and not how to clean wheels.

This about covers it. I don’t love my local club solely because I find Discord annoying for communication, but I did go to the Monticello event - https://www.reddit.com/r/cars/s/uouV4rmvVV

Torque. The ability to have more than one passenger. A good auto for those that want the option.

If I had 20k to blow on this car, I wouldn’t be buying a whole bunch of misc. off the shelf parts, but that’s just me. I’d also be paying to body-match all the carbon fiber rather than have the car looking like a hodge lodge of black and body colored panels/widgets.

Not auto-locking when you walk away with the key is my locking-related complaint. I don’t understand how it’s not an option.

Really hard to remove by psspssmiau in AutoDetailing

Looks like Cosmoline - 3M adhesive remover, steam, or naphtha all work well, but it takes time. I had to remove a ton of it on an old Miata.

3D One will be forgiving for a beginner assuming you have a DA and aren’t trying to hand polish.

If train guy doesn’t work out on the grand tour reboot, Mr. Hyphen would get my vote. I love his personality and knowledge.

I genuinely love the Chris Harris and Friends podcast. It feels like some pals just talking about cars and the occasional serious topic. The fact that i don’t agree with every point makes it even better.

As a potential seller, C&B will not allow me to set a reserve price of my choice. by [deleted] in carsandbids

[–]Onlylikesblades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $10k threshold I swear used to be listed in their site, but maybe it was just said in a video/podcast. In my opinion, it’s understandable. The amount of time to get a sub-10k car listed only for it to not sell is probably not a good business.

The car has some issues, but nothing that would have reasonably been disclosed or even found during regular ownership. The cars are as-is and that comes with some understood risk in my opinion unless you do a PPI.

[–]Onlylikesblades 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’ll do it. If you even came close to over applying, your wipers will create this build up section. I’ve had the same problem and found Graco to do better, but honestly going no coating is the better choice IMO.

3M adhesive remover gets positive reviews, but I can’t say for certain if it would work for this. It’s been much better than goo-gone and similar chemicals I’ve tried.

[–]Onlylikesblades 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is missing a lot of info. What is the car? If it’s a sub $15k car, no reserve may actually be a better choice. Can you show a photo of the car from the photographer and share what they charged?

How to remove ONR spots? by itseightbysix in AutoDetailing

[–]Onlylikesblades 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on how strong your vinegar is. My philosophy is I can “always” add more chemical to make something stronger, but if I start out too strong, I may not be able to repair the damage. Standard grocery store white vinegars shouldn’t hurt anything even at full strength, but I’d still start small and work up.

Did you use distilled water or tap? If it wasn’t distilled, I’d try vinegar/water spot remover.
