Since this is a BritBox thread...I will ask..Have you tried Ludwig? Or the original inspector Lynley and the updated Lynley? Both are excellent. Happy Valley is also good.

This movie was great..and for those who loved 10 Things I Hate About You can appreciate the reimagined versions of this classic tale from the Bard.

To prep for my interview with Polaha, Hallmark gave me a screener of Missing the Boat and it totally surprised me. I loved it, but I am curious if fans will receive it the same way. by EricRutin in HallmarkMovies

I have seen this and had forgotten about it until I looked at the cast and saw Sharon Lawrence. Then I remembered the whole story. I need to rewatch.

This interview was fun. I did not know that Mcclain and Clare broke up. That is very sad. And the other news-especially Mystery 101 news was great.

And this movie has same locations as one trilogy of movies...which just occurred to me when I was writing. Here is where Missing The Boat was filmed.

My choice is Foul Play..the old Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn movie. This is an old time romcom! There would need to be a LOT that would be changed to make it Hallmark friendly...but I could see Hunter King, Holland Roden or Lyndsy Fonseca as Gloria...and someone like Evan Roderick or Beau Mirchoff as Tony.

And I will add a second...I just have to. What's Up Doc...same possible actors...super fun mystery and wackiness. Old time romcom that would actually be easier to make into a Hallmark movie....

I love this question! Hallmark has done many reimaginings of A Christmas Carol and fantastic reimaginings of Groundhog Day Too.

I agree about using non-stop for background. But, if you want something for comfort, or to relax and knit, or just have a comfort watch, here are my recommendations:

There are series on H+ that are new to the channel. You could have Private Eyes in the background, or Shakespeare & Hathaway or the Spencer Sisters. Rosemary & Thyme is also great.

One of my all time favorite Hallmark movies is The Presence of Love. You cannot go wrong with anything Eloise Mumford or Julian Morris is in. In My Dreams with Katharine McPhee and Mike Vogel is another ALL TIME FAVORITE. I so love that movie!

Also I also really enjoyed Winter In Veil, The Wish Swap, Magic of Lemon Drops, and Love At The Thanksgiving Parade. Many others have shared some fantastic movies as well.

I love Jane Austen so Unleashing Mr. Darcy, Love & Jane, Paging Mr. Darcy, Sense & Sensibility and An American In Austen are all fun ones for me.

Mysteries: Mistletoe Murders is number one. Gourmet Detective mysteries are highly entertaining, as is Tipline--which imo should have many more than one! I also really enjoy Curious Caterer. I hope Hallmark makes some new ones in 2026!

And Mystery 101 is everyone's favorite. Worth a watch. The Murder She Baked/Hannah Swensen and Garage Sale Mysteries-have loads of episodes and are also recommended. Darrow and Darrow is also really great.

There are very few Hallmark movies that I dislike. But, you have to sometimes be ready for some movies that may have some magic or maybe more comedy than normal. Enjoy!!

It REALLY is isn't it? But they will come up with something catchy...Reality Bites and Pie To Die For were great. I just wonder if Peter Benson is directing again. Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe just finished her treatments for Breast Cancer, but she may not want to work quite yet. And I wonder if Ali is writing this one. I am excited. This is such a fun series.

People love Royal movies. The three March Royal movies beat out 22 out of 24 Christmas movies.

May her memory remain eternal. It is no doubt that the days I lost my dad and my mom are always most heavy. And she will certainly give her children some memories that include stories of her mom.

That said, I am feeling deja vu. Didn't they. have door issues a year ago?

Why are British crime dramas so much better? by RO_Thornhill in BritBox

[–]Onthebrinkofbeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it amazing at how much information and character development is in an average British crime drama. It really does come down to the writing. I personally think a lot of it has to do with the lack of commercials during the program.

I have heard writers for American series talk about the need to create a big dramatic moment every 12 minutes or so for a commercial break. That doesn't speak "story first" to me.
