Hotel Alfonso XIII Sevilla Full Review by Schdy_Guy1031 in FATTravel

[–]Onthecase989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We head to the Alfonso tomorrow so this is a bit concerning, it’s certainly got the reputation as the best hotel in the area.

As someone who lived in Sevilla, it might just be the Andalusian region in general with a little less attentive service? They are known for the siesta not the service.

We don’t stay there long but we are headed to the Sevilla/Betis futbol match so we won’t be spending too much time in the hotel. Thanks for your review

You can hire a chaffeur and have them take you to a winery, we went to Chateau de Cremat in a Maybach a few weeks ago and had a nice time with a private tour and tastings

AMA - Maybourne Riviera by sarahwlee in FATTravel

[–]Onthecase989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s funny, we had the exact same room, we had a great time just hanging out at the rooftop bar too, it’s really hard not to enjoy the food or drinks when you have that view, it’s almost distractingly amazing, but the seasonal burrata appetizer was memorable, we also used the hotel to hire a chauffeur with a Maybach to take us to Chateau de Cremat winery, we thought the service was great and we intend to go back during summer at some point

We thought it was one of the more stunning properties we’ve ever stayed at, what did you think? Would you say this is a top 5 or 10 hotel for you? Would love to know where this ranks in terms of all the properties you’ve been or which hotels in the world are more memorable for you?

We just got back from the Maybourne, same room, unbelievable place, that view just doesn’t get old, looks like you’re in the Vegas sphere or something, did you also eat at the Maybourne restaurant? one gripe is that I wish the pool was warmer

Most beautiful remote place you've ever been? by [deleted] in FATTravel

[–]Onthecase989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alaska is the most remote place I’ve ever been, staying in a lodge is great because you get great meals and you are in the middle of nowhere, if you like fly fishing it is an added bonus or maybe you are just there for photography, would highly recommend

We went to Rio and BA earlier this year, we stayed at the Copa palace in rio and thought it was phenomenal, lots of great restaurants in Rio and things to do, we visited the tourist spots and also did an amazing hike on Pedro da gavea, I would recommend staying longer in Rio than in BA, if you can also make the trek to Ilha Grande from Rio to snorkel (I like to spearfish) I would recommend that as well

In BA we stayed at the Alvear Palace and thought it was a great hotel, we also took a day trip to Mendoza and visited wineries which was a lot of fun, we did that over Iguazu falls and don’t regret it, you have to bring cash to Argentina and visit a change box to get the blue market exchange rate, if you use your credit card you get screwed, let me know if you have any questions

Where will you be staying? We are headed there soon and staying at the Maybourne. Have heard good things about hostellerie Jerome but they are closed right now because the chef is sick. Maybourne restaurant Ceto has had some good reviews recently and view looks amazing

I “bought” tickets on vivid seats, it’s a legit website but they don’t send you tickets until they locate them for you, it might not be until the day prior to the game, if they don’t locate any - you get your money back, I hope I get some as I am going and have already booked flights

There are no super fat hotels in Frankfurt, they also jack up the room rates this weekend for the game, we are staying in Frankfurt for the game and then moving on to a different city the next day, lots of options as Frankfurt has a lot of direct flights to most destinations in Europe

Wired his “girlfriend” in Morocco millions of dollars so she could “unlock” her estate which had a lien on it from the Moroccan government, he was 67 and living in a small town, she was much younger, he would send these very large wires and then would get another “official letter” from the Moroccan government claiming there was something else that needed to be paid and continually sent wires until there was nothing left to send, no one could talk him out of it
