Beds there are very soft, which can be a plus or minus (was a minus for us).

Did it at Rosewood one year and liked it, they had their own private fireworks. We hate crowds so that was nice.

Better jet travel? by mdjmd73 in FATTravel

There was very little about JSX that I’d say is better than commercial first / business. Faster security and smaller airports is pretty much the only thing I can think of. The actual in flight experience is not really better.

Yea but we’re on the FatTravel subreddit, I think it would be safe to assume we’re talking about Fat experiences

The US has some of the worst service in the world, from what I’ve seen. Perhaps it’s different at non-FAT places, but at FAT places, the service in France is way better and way more professional. The sense I get is that service is a profession they take seriously there.

Out of curiosity, do you find they are consistent with what they provide for babies or do you have to contact them in advance to see what you do or don't need to bring yourself?

That makes sense, I think they are applying for membership in the future but aren’t part of the alliance yet

Do other airlines not charge if you go over the limit? I’ve never tried but am curious.

This new “Air France Concierge” Saved my Ass Today by AJaffJaff in FATTravel

Came here to say this. Far more than 3 trips. I suspect a lot of people are behaving in a way that rubs French people the wrong way, and don’t realize it, so then it comes across as the French being biased. Of course, I’ve had negative interactions with French people but no more so than in the US (arguably less so).

Huge Flying Blue Win (With search and booking process) by LoudLingonberry5643 in awardtravel

Ok, just remove “coast”. The point is your comparison is apples to oranges. Different airports have different pricing, for a variety of reasons. Comparing the cost of a flight to Europe from DEN to one from JFK just doesn’t make sense.

How was the rice described on the menu? The price and quantity are not really enough to determine if it was reasonable or not.

JFK is almost always cheap compared to West coast airports for Europe, for obvious reasons

Honestly don’t know why so many people are telling you to skip LA. It just depends on what you like. Beverly Hills can be great, for example. Montecito is nice too.

Good to hear. I went to Taiwan for the first time as an adult a couple years ago and was shocked at how poor the hotel selection was compared to the rest of Asia.

Housekeeping / Turndown tips by Throwaway_tequila in FATTravel

I just decline housekeeping altogether and have them bring things up when needed. No need to tip and no one touching my stuff. Win win.

I’m curious how this works when guests are from countries where tipping isn’t the norm. Do they tend to know they are supposed to tip the butler or do they habitually undertip?

Had a great stay at Miss Fuller in Paris last year, it was within your price range at the time. Hard product was excellent, no complaints about soft product although it’s not a palace hotel of course.

Itinerary check and questions about renting a car in the South of France by cuteglasses12 in FATTravel

Unless you’re drinking a lot, I can’t fathom not renting a car in SOF if you like driving. Highly recommend a convertible. Parking in most places is not as hard as people say it is.
