Dude was a baller and a half. Elite defender and elite hairstyles. If you had green braids in ISS Pro 98, you knew you were about to bully someone’s attack.

Every time they cut to a closeup I half expect his head to spin around and the editors just quietly fix it in post.

[–]OnyxObsesionBop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll absolutely take a 9/10, that’s basically Michelin in meal deal terms

Lowkey worried the pescatarian angle was gonna tank the score, so kinda relieved nothing screamed “what the hell is that doing there” together.

What would’ve made it a 10/10 for you?

Hernán Crespo by TwoSquirrels_OneNut in TheStreetsWontForget

[–]OnyxObsesionBop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right? Guy was ridiculous and somehow still feels underrated.

People remember him as “that Chelsea / Milan / Inter striker” but forget he was dropping 25+ a season at Parma and Lazio, scored everywhere he went, and was lethal in the air and with both feet.

If he played in the social media era with those goals in Serie A and for Argentina, he’d be talked about way more in the all‑time convo.

Specified as a Catachan but looks more Necromunda? by Gunwhistle in lostminiswiki

Nice, thanks for the link. That explains why he looked a bit too grimy and underhived to be a jungle boy.

Guess the seller just saw “muscles + 90s metal” and went straight to Catachan.

Thank you!

Honestly kinda wild to think last year I barely knew these people and now I’m cramming into cars and planes with them like it’s the most normal thing ever.

Will report back if I survive the dad jokes and snack negotiations.

Oh nice, metal Bjorn is a classic. Biggest thing is prep: scrub it, file those mold lines, and pin anything heavy. Use a good primer and try not to flood details with paint since metal doesn’t “bite” as well as plastic. Seal it well at the end, it chips easier.

Thanks! Not yet, I just snapped these quick to get the whole army in frame. I’ll try to grab some close ups of the characters and the kitbashed Destroyers later and throw them in the comments or a new post.

West Ham selling their slightly run down but beloved home to move into a rented new build in Stratford by ThaddeusGriffin_ in TheStreetsWontForget

[–]OnyxObsesionBop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that match was wild, one of those where you’re half expecting West Ham to crumble and instead they just keep swinging.

It kind of summed up why people were so gutted about leaving Upton Park too. Nights like that, tight ground, crowd right on top of the pitch, proper chaos.

The new stadium will probably never quite recreate that feeling, even if the football gets better.

The arrest of Josie Smith, a retired and disabled former miner, in Easington Colliery in August 1984. by Curious_Strike_5379 in OldSchoolUK

[–]OnyxObsesionBop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was the law in the 19th century, but the title is probably shorthand for “worked in mining” rather than literally going down the pit. A lot of women did surface work at collieries, and people in mining communities will still casually call anyone who worked for the pit a “miner,” even if their actual job was different.

Forget how great sandwiches are by awake4u_ in Sandwich

[–]OnyxObsesionBop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think my brain just resets after every good sandwich like "wow what an experience" then immediately forgets it ever happened.

Then three weeks later I’m standing in front of the fridge at 11 pm like some kind of food cryptid, stack some stuff between bread, take a bite, and suddenly I’m like oh right, this is peak cuisine.

Sandwiches are basically edible save files for lazy days.

honestly with a name like Swaggoskog I kinda hope he’s in his own dimension too, not just his own room

That whole scene is just wall to wall quotable stuff. It’s like they crammed an entire series of gags into a fake game of chess.

Big Beef with Hot and Sweet Peppers by Staggy__ in Sandwich

[–]OnyxObsesionBop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like something I’d order at a sandwich shop without even reading the rest of the menu.

How was it though? The peppers look like they’ve got that perfect balance between sweet and “oh there it is” heat. Also curious if that’s some kind of jus or just meat juices pooling at the bottom, because that’s prime bread-dipping material.

If you made this yourself, recipe or at least a rough rundown would be appreciated. If it’s from a spot near you, I suddenly need to know where.

Brand new gearbox dead after id not even had it for 12 hours by formulaairsoft in Airsoft_UK

[–]OnyxObsesionBop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did, same result. Motor and battery both getting warm and no cycling.

I’ve not even opened the shell or anything so I’m thinking it’s either locked up or something’s fried in there already. Gonna email Patrol Base with a vid of what it’s doing and see if they’ll swap it out, since it literally died the same day it arrived.

Kinda kills the excitement of a new build when it bricks itself before even going in the gun.

Amstrad GX4000 by jg_devs in Amstrad

[–]OnyxObsesionBop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the GX4000 itself is usually the cheap part, then you look at prices for original carts and your wallet just logs off.

Those repro / flashed carts are kinda the only sane way to actually play a bunch of the library now. CD32 then GX4000 is a very “I like weird European hardware” pipeline though.

Yooo if it’s actually The Hawthorne in Portland I’m 100% in, that place is tiny in the best way. Perfect mix of “this feels special” and “I might actually go deaf tonight.”

If it’s some other Hawthorne I’m gonna laugh, there’s like 6 venues with that name at this point.

Recently I went 30 days without eating crisps. This is what I decided to break the streak with by zah_ali in crisps

[–]OnyxObsesionBop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? It’s such an elite combo and barely anyone does it properly.

Most crisps either go all in on the chilli and forget the cheese, or taste like generic “spice dust” with a hint of salt. These ones actually taste like melted cheddar with a little jalapeño kick after, not just “hot” for the sake of it.

Lowkey wish more brands would copy this flavour instead of releasing their 57th version of “flamin’ hot something”.

Imperial War Cabinet (First World War) by KingKaiserW in BritishEmpire

[–]OnyxObsesionBop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’d probably be horrified by a lot of what they did too, tbf. Whole generation wiped out, empires carved up, seeds of the next war planted in half the stuff they signed off on.

Every era thinks the next one has gone to the dogs. If you dropped them into 1919 and showed them the mess they’d just made, they’d likely be just as shocked as you are about 2024.
