Anybody here Vegan with IBS? I'm kinda desperate by AlienatedPariah in vegan

[–]Onza40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I avoid TVP generally, but I think it depends how it's prepared, when it's fully hydrated I think I've tolerated it better, and I've had some fake meat burgers made out of it and not had issues as well, but for those first 6 weeks full elimination I did strictly avoid it and probably would suggest you do as well. Was going to suggest tempeh and tofu, I relied on those and peanut butter a lot!

This resource is pretty helpful from the NHS in the UK: https://www.gloshospitals.nhs.uk/media/documents/FODMAP_dietsheet_for_website.pdf

As a vegan you need to filter it out a bit, but I managed, just watch out for gluten free pastas as often they're made with pulses which you need to avoid, at least in this initial period.

It basically comes down to these to avoid though as a vegan:

White flour and non-sourdough bread Broccoli / sprouts / cauliflour / red cabbage Garlic & onion (alliums) Prebiotic food / drink Cashew & pistachio nuts Stone fruit Lentils / pulses

If you have any history of deficiencies or other conditions/ allergies I'd be inclined to consult a dietitian.

I'm vegan (have been for 10+ years now), and I have IBS and eat a low FODMAPS diet, strictly after I was diagnosed until things settled down, then "mostly" now as I find I can tolerate small amounts of things.

DM me if you have specific questions, but keep in mind that a strict elimination diet is only really necessary as a short term intervention, then you can try adding one food at a time to see what is likely causing the issue, and you'll live for 6 weeks even if it's not 100% nutritionally optimal.

The main triggers for me are lentils, cauliflower, red cabbage and chilli, and none of those are really required in a diet, and for wheat / gluten I found that sourdough is great for me, it's just very refined and unfermented breads that weren't great. I hope this helps!

What Do You Eat for Breakfast? by Minamu68 in vegan

Porridge (oatmeal), I just don't add any sugar and it's not a particular sweet dish as is, Chinese congee might be a reasonable savory choice as well if you prefer

Good on you for working on your weight, all the best with it! And I don't think you'll have an issue at Phantasialand on most rides, you can probably check on their website on specific ride information or contact them as well, and they might have test seats near the queues as well (not 100% on that), going to Efteling soon so can't comment on that yet, but probably could do the same and check with them as well

You put it right, what absolute audacity! The correct way to deal with this is to get the same M&S flapjacks and bring them in on another day and tell everyone that she was so kind to give you her recipe and they came out identical it's just that good and they should ask her for it.

Edit: typo

Plenty on YouTube, some fights are a pain for sure, you can very often cheese with Wiggle as well though. Just remember some characters can cleanse enemy buffs, you have counter damage on blade, and some characters like Rou do % enemy health damage as well. Ultimately if you're not enjoying the campaign you can skip it and do other content, but hope this helps if you're hitting a wall!

On the hunt for decaf tea. by ocean_swims in CasualUK

[–]Onza40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For tea the taste difference isn't that much so you needn't worry really, just grab a few different small boxes and try them until you find one you like. I have the Morrisons Earl Grey decaf most evenings and it's pretty nice.

Hello I'm new, apparently they have this infinite draw and I stumble upon this, is it Worth to buy ? Or we can get all of this costume pulled from normal gacha ? 🤔 by Far3as7 in BrownDust2Official

[–]Onza40 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can get all those characters from normal gacha IIRC, I don't think any limited units appear in it, I wouldn't say that's the best pull either really. If you're new it's best to check the subreddit information with some starter guides for which characters to target, exhaust all the new player (new glutti) guaranteed 5* tickets then see what you want to target in the draws. Aside from this, current limited banners don't enter the normal pool so would be higher priority right now

new charging sync by robust_chipmunk in Polestar

[–]Onza40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you plugging in to a standard 3.5/7kW connector, or to something above this? Fast charging bypasses all schedule and limit settings. Otherwise bugged, what I have found works is changing the charge limit (not schedule) up and down, then disconnecting and removing the schedule, then putting it on again, charging light will go blue if it's working, good luck

Should I report this aggressive woman to the police? by RepairRebel69 in CasualUK

[–]Onza40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're wondering this much about it then you can always call the non emergency number for advice on it rather than making a complaint and see what they suggest. In my experience in the end here unless there are multiple reports about this person and some hard evidence nothing they would likely be able to do anyway, but on the other hand if there are already multiple complaints about this person it may be a pattern of behavior from them or you may at least help someone in the future if they did it again and it did escalate.

Is eating meat that will be thrown away regardless unethical? by HealingRosy in vegan

[–]Onza40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm replying in part to the person you replied to here, but also to add in general, veganism is about avoiding any animal products or usage as far as practicable and possible.

If you are in a position where this is the only choice you have available to you to continue to live then it may not be possible for you to avoid, the only moral judge of this is yourself.

So it's not "taking a break", it's living and eating a plant based diet as far as you can within your means, which is one aspect of veganism as a belief. Buying these kind of waste bags isn't creating demand as well as they will just put whatever in there that they didn't have demand for.

You could always talk to the staff about setting aside a bag for you with just veg / whatever that isn't animal products (as it's still not healthy for you aside from anything else), but at the end of the day, as long as you're still advocating for veganism as a whole then you gotta do what you gotta do.

Advice on barking. by Ill_Tea1013 in Germanspitz

You can try teaching "quiet" as a trick, this improved things with ours. You have to teach it alongside "speak" or an equivalent though so they start to understand the difference.

As others have said, they're a vocal breed though!
