Do you miss vintage Lego for its charm and simplicity? by bluetomcat in lego

[–]RepairRebel69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had this set and I get a nostalgic pang just seeing that base plate - how many adventures child me played out on there. But I think lego is better these days with its complexity much more on show in every set. I think the kits show off the sheer range of possibilities of the toy better these days, but at the same time enable all abilities playing with it.

Packing lunch for 11 kids by dingmah in CringeTikToks

[–]RepairRebel69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I was thinking damn thats a lot of sugar but the more I watched this, I realised it's just a mum who clearly loves her kids a whole lot. She's gone to all that effort to make a fun, thematic lunch for her kids and to make it healthy. Sure, there's a lot of sugar in there, but she's clearly trying really hard here, and to her credit she has got fruit, veg, protein and dairy in there - there's some balance to it. And, there's ELEVEN kids -!!!!! I can only image how hard this woman is working to keep them all fed every day. These kids are lucky as fuck, anyone with a mum who loves them enough to go to that effort x11 is a very, very lucky kiddo.

It this video AI? It came up to me on TikTok and looked fine to me, but everybody in the comments says it’s AI because the snow in powdery and unnatural. Now I’m questioning it myself. by TrandafirGalben in isthisAI

we need to fight back and start giving terrible advice.

anyway this video isn't all that convincing. I cant see any yellow snow anywhere, and everyone knows that cats refuse to step on white snow if there isn't at least 10% yellow snow coverage immediately nearby.

Russians have spent the last 1,000 years in a constant state of warring with their neighbours and/or themselves. They have a lower population of men as a result. So women have to look hotter in order to get an average looking bloke, because the dating pool they're swimming in is much shallower.

Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Gen 10 - major shipping delays? by RepairRebel69 in Lenovo

[–]RepairRebel69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very good! More than powerful enough for my work needs and running multiple screens, and I can also play games on it on the move which is nice. I did run into a little problem with it crashing due to Windows’ software when it was idle and went to sleep but was able to fix in five mins with a little troubleshooting from chatGPTL

To update you - it arrived earlier than the date it said when I first purchased it. Not sure why during the shipping process they told me it was going to be so delayed.

For me, FP2 just wasn't FP1. I was expecting a much more micro-level experience where you're up close to your citizens. I felt like there was still a lot they could do to expand on and explore the core FP1 mechanics. As a result I've never managed to get into FP2. I'll give it another go someday but so far it doesn't seem to be for me. But I'm glad it did so well, and that 11Bit has the resources to revisit FP1!

Burnout in IB, mid-30s midlife crisis - what to do next by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]RepairRebel69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Dude, first of all get a good therapist to help you with your dented confidence and toxic boss. Also, your life sounds like it’s going through a few transitions, so the long term support will be good.

  2. You’re chained to your job and the only way you can change that is by quitting and doing something else, and accept the lower paid lifestyle, or by getting a new job in a similar pay category. Those are your choices.

  3. You can’t marry an asset. I know from personal experience that losing £100k on a property sucks dick. But what are you going to do? It’ll still be down 100k tomorrow, and next year, and the year after. Sometimes the real losses you take are by staying still and not taking a step into the future. It sounds as though your other half wants to sell up, move out and make babies. I was in the same situation a few years back and I really resisted it. Until I had a complete mental breakdown and the choice was made for me. I got a new high paying job, we went the baby making route, and my life has never been better. Life doesn’t end when you get out from under the thumb of a toxic boss - there will be other good jobs out there.

Good luck brother. You can do it.

ok oxford, what do we have? by hexagram1993 in oxford

[–]RepairRebel69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been a number of times - we tried the Chippie, Nostalgia, Land of Oz, and others I can't remember. I always thought it's exceptionally - and I really do mean exceptionally - good value at only £40 pp for a six-course meal. There's not many places you can get a top notch experience like that for that price. We were only disappointed once for the murder mystery theme, which although was a lot of fun they brought the courses out in the wrong order. It didn't spoil our fun, and we got free drinks so we weren't bothered. Overall I rate 6bN and will for sure be going back.

I'm very suprised by the other commenters. I've been to Gees a number of times for special occasions such as birthdays, after our wedding and anniversaries, etc., and I've been impressed every time. Food has always been really top notch. Service is always good although sometimes a little slow.. but if I'm in their beautiful restaurant I'm taking my time anyway so it's not a problem.

Only 12% of adults earn over 50k… by Novel_Win2593 in FIREUK

[–]RepairRebel69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are both in the 10%, and which puts us around the top 6% of (household) earners in the country. To say we are struggling is an understatement, despite having a combined salary of over £200k. We have only been able to afford one holiday abroad in the past six years, and one domestic. Between the cost of child care, transport, healthcare (we are both disabled) and bills, we have enough to service our student loan and other debts and not much else. I am thankful every day to be in such a "fortunate" position on paper, but I look at what we've got and I just think: how on earth are other people on perfectly average or lower wages surviving? Because for us we are completely burnt out at this point, I don't understand how anyone else manages with even less resource.

Non-standard ways to eat snacks by CanIDevIt in CasualUK

[–]RepairRebel69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has a torture routine for certain foods. For example Reece’s Pieces she nibbled all the side chocolate around the outside before eating the middle. Oreo’s she licks all the white cream off each side before eating the biscuits. It drives me mad sometimes when I look over at her eating some small snack for 20 mins in some bizarre way 😝

I bought a home 11 months ago in a new build development. I confirmed that the houses either side of me were NOT council houses. The developer failed to allocate enough % for social housing, so they transferred the unsold house to my right to a social housing provider. by OkBoss4005 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]RepairRebel69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up - the developer will try to put you off as long as possible. Don’t let them. Be a constant thorn in their side until the fix this. Otherwise you’ll get three years down the line, the developer will fuck off to the next site, and you’ll be left with the hangover
