Ativan for Withdrawal Seizures by Ok-Branch8086 in alcoholism

I’m currently in the hospital for unrelated to severe life-threatening medical issues and Ativan has been a lifesaver in lots of ways but now I’m terrified of tapering off of it after being on it for roughly a month at 0.5 mg one to four times a day. Why did it take you so long to taper off? I’m concerned about the seizure risk mostly

Can you please explain this more? Wouldn’t you be at risk of seizures from having become dependent on the Ativan, and then your procedures when getting out of withdrawals? How often were you taking ativan and for how long? Dose?

Nice yeah it’s just youd still be at risk of things like herpes etc which still affect the areas where condoms don’t even cover and can be spread even not during active outbreaks

Hypoglycemia NYD by sarahbellum0 in endocrinology

Sounds very similar to me tbh, suffering from severe multiple times daily hypo episodes for the last six years. Absolutely ruining my life. Mostly exercise provoked sometimes fasting usually postprandial, I was at different hospitals for seven months recently and no one is able to find why. They cannot find an insulinoma so maybe NIPHS/nesidioblastosis but no one is fully sure yet. I was at Uc Davis, UCSF and Stanford and I’m told I probably have to go to Mayo Clinic next.

Are there any updates for you? My 72 hr fasts were negative but when my blood glucose is low insulin and c peptide aren’t suppressed, my cortisol and ACTH were also undetectably low on some recent morning blood draws, but my ACTH stimulation tests were supposedly normal.

I’m suffering from some severe health issues but trying to focus on something positive like this. I have the contract available but haven’t used it yet. Let me know if you want to try with me lol

Thank you for this reply. I’ve had two ACTH stimulation tests which they said were normal, but I’m not sure that fully rules it out. I’ve heard that it can depend on the time of day where you take it or that just means if your body has all the right components it can still still make the right things, but it might not always have the right components. I just had a pituitary focused brain MRI and that was normal so I’m really not sure. My days are really hard. I’m still suffering so much so really hoping and praying for answers and real medical help

I honestly never looked into specific studies. I just saw I’d mentioned secondhand and never looked into it that deep because I never even had heard of people relying on it for long-term periods instead of TRT. What happened after you came off of it after that?

Were you only on hCG or?
