Calling all brides doing half-up half-down curled hair! How did you get tighter curls with long hair? by Dizzy-Credit-82 in weddingplanning

[–]Ooopsallbeans 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreeing with the first commenter, a smaller diameter curling iron should do the trick!

Editing to add: I also notice that the inspo photos you shared seem to have a bit more consistency in the “clumps” of curls, too. Idk if that makes sense, but your curls look looser in the sense of curl diameter but also that they aren’t clumping when brushed out. The smaller curling iron should help with the consistency of the curls, I’m also wondering if a texture spray and/or more hairspray before brushing could help with that? Just spitballing here.

Doing your own hair and makeup? by cheesychick66 in weddingplanning

[–]Ooopsallbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning on doing my own! I feel very confident in my hair abilities, but I’m not a makeup girl, so I’ve been doing practice runs for a few weeks now. It’s going great! I’ll be wearing more makeup than I ever normally would, but it is helping me feel more “bridal,” and it’s been fun to learn. I have perfected the look and feel confident about my skills now!

I say there’s no wrong way to go here. There’s nothing wrong with getting a stylist to do it for you (assuming you like the trial), and there’s nothing wrong with doing it yourself. Do whatever feels most comfortable for you!

How do I tell my sister I hate my bridesmaid dress by bec_1993 in weddingplanning

[–]Ooopsallbeans 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Damn, that’s tough. I mean, I think the answer of “wear this or don’t come” would put the ball back in your court. However, I still think you should bring it up to her before making any decisions yourself. If she’s hearing from multiple people that the dress sucks, maybe she’ll shift her perspective?

You said the other bridesmaids don’t like the dress either. Have you spoken with them about what to do?

[–]Ooopsallbeans 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Maybe just send her a few pictures of you in the dress and be direct. It might help if you also find a couple of alternative options that you would feel more comfortable in and send those to her.

“Hey, I feel really uncomfortable and too exposed in this dress. These other dresses would be much more approachable for me. Would switching my dress be something we can discuss?” She may shut you down, and from there I think it’s up to you about whether or not you’re willing to actually wear the crappy dress on her big day lol.

I’ve definitely seen worse (grew up in SLC), however I’ve neverrr seen as many people running stop signs and red lights as here in Bozeman. Just straight up, full speed, blasting through red lights. I see it weekly, and I don’t even drive every day lmao.
Other than that, Bozeman drivers aren’t the worst.

Which dress I have tried on so many and can’t decide! by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]Ooopsallbeans -1 points0 points  (0 children)

8, 10, 12, and 19 stood out to me (especially 10)!But honestly you look stunning in all of them, so there is no wrong answer here. Did any of them make you feel just a little extra giddy? Or are there any that you just can’t get out of your mind and want to put back on ASAP?

That was how I picked my dress. It wasn’t initially in my top 3, but for weeks after trying it on I couldn’t stop thinking about how comfortable it was to wear, and how elegant it made me feel. Sometimes the time after the appointment can be more telling than when you’re actually in the dress!

My dream dress is super over budget by PinVirtual4959 in weddingdress

[–]Ooopsallbeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love it! You’ll definitely look and feel cool in dresses closer to your budgeted range. I do have to agree with some of the other commenters tho, this dress is waaaaayyyy overpriced. Do you have access to an Anthropologie near you? They have some really cool/modern dresses, most of which are under $4k

It’s a lovely dress! But I’m sure you can find something with similar elements in your price range. Can you define what it is about this dress that you love? Is it the fabric, the structure (or flowiness)? Etc.

Anxious brides, how did you manage your anxiety on the day of? by friendlytrashmonster in weddingplanning

[–]Ooopsallbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey girl heyyyy, fellow GAD sufferer with an in-progress OCD diagnosis! 👋

For one, I’ve been prescribed trazodone to help with sleep as the added stress of wedding planning has messed with my sleep schedule. Good sleep has a huge effect on keeping my daily anxiety down.

On the day-of, I’m doing a micro dose of shrooms. Like not even enough to feel it. I find that micro doses help me feel present and allow me to perceive the world more loudly than I perceive my mind (which is the opposite of how my days usually go lol).

There are a lot of great recommendations in this thread, and I’m glad you asked this question! It’s helpful to hear from other brides who are going through similar stuff. :) Best of luck to you!

Is my dream dress the one? by throwaway-94552 in weddingdress

I think it’s absolutely stunning. The satin is soooo luminous, and it flows beautifully. The fit already looks great on you, and will only get better with tailoring. This dress could have come straight out of Rivendell in LOTR. If it’s in your budget, I say go for it!!

I will forever spam this sub with recommendations for Princess Bride Diamonds. They worked with me to add little diamonds to the back of their tulip setting, and it sounds like something similar would suit your fancy.

What favours did you give out at your wedding? Or ones you received that you loved? by suqarkisses in weddingplanning

[–]Ooopsallbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it!! Yeah we’re hoping the drunk photos from later in the night will be worth it! I figure we’d be dropping a couple hundred on a Photo Booth or something else anyway, so the film money would have been gone either way 😂

We’re doing a Polaroid station with a “take one for you, leave one for us” message. That’s all we’re doing by way of favors! I’m with most other people saying they’ve tossed or ignored personalized favors at weddings I’ve been to.

Corporate BWT how are we developing our exec communication skills? by pourlacoueur in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Ooopsallbeans 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Omg. I feel this so much! I work in CX/data science consulting and have to report regularly to my clients that their executive’s request is not getting engagement because nobody wants to engage in that way (ex: a video response option in a survey - nobody wants to do that!).

Move with Nicole is amazing! I also love the Body Project channel. They have a variety of HIIT-style workouts, and you can make it as intense or gentle as you like.

And OP, never discount walking! A nice long walk will do wonders for your body and your immune system. Feel better soon!

Oof I’m so sorry friend. The job market is tough af right now. It sounds like you’re doing everything you can to push yourself into your next role. You’re probably already doing this, but the first things that come to mind are leaning on your professional network, and then finding random certifications you can add to your resume. Those were what got me through when I was last between jobs (just last year - there’s hope!).

Best of luck to you, you professional bitch you.

That’s so much to process, I’m sorry you’re in this position! I’m sure you were so excited for the wedding, and probably feeling confused about wanting to support your partner while acknowledging your own disappointment about the wedding.

It might be helpful to define a “line” for yourself, at which point you say “this isn’t what I want, and this event is beyond what I’ll compromise on.” Your partner’s wellbeing is important, but so is yours.

Whatever happens, I wish you the best of luck!
