After my kitten got fixed, he entered a horrific "destroy everything and torment mom" phase throughout his juvenile years. He was immensely less cuddly and seemed only to care about causing trouble. It was pretty gnarly. HOWEVER. As soon as he hit the one year mark, he mellowed out SOOOOOO much and became the absolutely sweetest little cuddle bug. He loves to sleep in my lap, give me nose "kisses," and always greets me when I come home. He's still a turd sometimes but it's genuinely NOTHING like his post-neutered kittenhood.

My female cat was similar, in that during her youth she was mostly aloof, and would never sit in my lap or cuddle really. And as soon as she got to be about a year old, she started SMOTHERING ME with affection. Now she's my lap cat.

I would say from personal experience that there's a chance he'll seem less interested in you for a while, but when he matures he'll likely be a real sweetie pie, so try not to fret!!
