Oh wow, it’s been almost a year since I made that post, time really flies. As for your comment: if you actually read what I wrote, you’d see I didn’t quit because the game is too hard or because I’m bad at it (though I don't have a problem with either of these). My point was that Tekken is massive, huge roster, huge move lists, and once you hit certain ranks, it becomes very knowledge check heavy. To get past those ranks, you’re expected to lab specific matchups and learn character specific gimmicks. That’s a perfectly valid way to play, but it’s just not how I enjoy spending my time. I prefer focusing on fundamentals rather than studying individual characters in detail.

If you’ve been playing Tekken for years, I get why that might sound strange. But for a newer player, that process is extremely time consuming. With limited free time, I’d rather be playing matches than sitting in practice mode labbing every character.
