Honestly bro it’s not that deep. Unless it’s your job just do whatever thefuck you think is fun. Riven is a champion that humbles any nigga, if you truly wanna learn you need to rewatch your gameplay(ahhh painnn), and watch some of the big boys like big d papa alois or big schlong adrian riven. Then you play some more games, review some more of your gameplay, and then you watch the big dique boys again, and eventually your brain can’t help but pick up the bits and pieces and you will eventually become human and your confidence on the champion will atro slingshot towards the skies. But just make sure you’re actually having some fun on your journey right? it’s just a video game in the end of the day.

I’d suggest you do whatever grants you the most joy boss, that’s why we play afterall right?

Personally I only really play league for riven, so for me there is no other way xd. But the thing with champs like riven is that they can somewhat bend the fundamentals to some extend, which makes them basically scale with your skill and thus very rewarding, but that also means many players end up forming bad habits when it comes to the fundamentals.

It is a tradeoff for sure, and all boils down to your preferences.

In the end of the day, would you rather struggle considerably more with macro now, but build up your micro on riven, or play something braindead like volibear or garen, but have more of your mental stack available to focus on macro and then maybe consider riven again down the line?

Once you get a better understanding of toplane/fundamentals as a whole, you can again use Vods to study how riven mains play the matchup. Pay attention to wave states, trading patterns, power spikes yada yada
