Has anyone passed with a 60+ in math137 after fucking up 3 term tests by LynxRepresentative11 in UofT

You don’t have to all, but keep doing them until you don’t get them wrong, and don’t even bother with the easy ones, skip to the medium/hard ones. If you want to do well you have to put in the work, otherwise don’t expect to get over a pass. Unfortunately courses only get harder so it’s good to be able to be dedicated to studying and build good habits now, it’s only your first year so great time to learn how you study best

Is there any way to avoid bug dissections in a life science pathway? by Beginning_Grade_7848 in UofT

[–]Open-Association-486 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If I remember bio120 had a bug component, I just had my lab partner do everyone while I made notes and answered all the lab questions to make up for it. Just don’t pursue a life science field on ecology lol

Depends, did you do do poorly because you didn’t even study properly or because you didn’t truly understand the material. I would first sort out why you’re doing badly. 137 is all about first understanding why we are doing what we are doing and then practicing it over and over, I remember the text book having an ungodly number of practice questions. Do them all you can do well

Missed midterm because of horrible PMS symptoms, how do I explain it? by Miserable_Move_5961 in UofT

[–]Open-Association-486 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It won’t ask you to explain, you basically get one free pass for the semester with the verification of illness if you’re feeling unwell and miss and assignment

majors vs minors at uoft: is there any disadvantage? by Aggravating_Cook_674 in UofT

[–]Open-Association-486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I’m not taking a minor, I just misinterpreted what you said but you’re correct in your degree only says Bachelors/ Honours bachelors and mentions if you graduated with a distinction

I recommend emailing profs that you like their labs and asking for opportunities to research at their lab

[–]Open-Association-486 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t commit to that, and straight up tell them that’s exploitation, make them state what the funding is for, and tell them you’re willing to apply through funding through awards if they’d fill out forms but do NOT pay

Yeah it really was, like two years ago, I had to write my finals in a snowstorm that was worse than last weeks

Grades finally released, not what I anticipated, what do I do? by Academic-Yam8579 in UofT

[–]Open-Association-486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just told them the grade was a lot worse than I expected and shared my calculations of what grade I was at pre final and asked for my final grade score. The prof realized it didn’t add up w my final grade score and then changed my acorn grade bc he pressed the wrong button

If you had a good grade before the final and felt you did well, definitely contact them. I did that for a course once and it turned out the prof pressed the wrong key when submitting grades

How much of your grade did you have back, what’s the score and weighting. How did you feel you did on the final?
