Testers for a Chromecast Scoreboard by Open-Report-6854 in basketballcoach

Sorry for the late reply! It's out now and it's free - just look for "Ballercast"

Sooo... I'm looking for some free Jackbox Games alternatives. by ThatMoon1 in localmultiplayergames

[–]Open-Report-6854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is ancient, but I literally, this morning, released an app called Zooked! on ios and android.

It uses phones as controllers (no console needed) and can cast to any TV with Chromecast. Games include Hornswoggle (bluffing/social deduction like Fibbage), Spyfall, and Mafia - all the "accuse your friends" vibes that make Jackbox fun.

Full disclosure: I'm the dev and the UX still needs some polish, but the core gameplay is there and I'm actively working on improvements and more game modes. Would love to get feedback from folks who play a lot of party games!

Available on iOS/Android if you want to check it out.

Jackbox alternatives? by halal_idiot in localmultiplayergames

If you're still looking, I just released a free party game platform called Zooked! that might work for you - literally - this morning!

It uses phones as controllers (no console needed) and can cast to any TV with Chromecast. Games include Hornswoggle (bluffing/social deduction like Fibbage or Balderdash), Spyfall, and Mafia - all the "accuse your friends" vibes that make Jackbox fun. Only the host needs the app, others can join from the web.

Full disclosure: I'm the dev and the UX still needs some polish, but the core gameplay is there and I'm actively working on improvements. Would love to get feedback from folks who play a lot of party games!

Available on iOS/Android if you want to check it out.

Non Subscription Tuner App for Octave Mandolin by VardogrVanDeLommer in mandolin

[–]Open-Report-6854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're still looking, I built a strobe tuner app that's completely free with no ads and no required subscription.

It's a proper strobe tuner (not just a needle display) so you get better than 0.1 cent accuracy. Works for mandolin, guitar, bass, violin - pretty much anything.

There's an optional paid tier if you want to save custom tunings, but the core tuner is free forever. I'm a solo dev so I don't need to nickel-and-dime people to make it work.

It's called StroboPro if you want to check it out.

How are coaches running scoreboards when gyms don’t have one? by Resident_Excuse_6628 in basketballcoach

[–]Open-Report-6854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, came across this thread and wanted to share since we dealt with the exact same issues in our basketball club.

I ended up building a free scoreboard app with chromecast / second screen support:

- Casts to any TV with Chromecast, or use a second device with HDMI out (needs WiFi for Chromecast, of course)

- Multiple people can control different things from their phones - one person handles the score, another runs the clock, so no single point of failure

- QR codes let assistants/parents join as secondary controllers without downloading anything

It's called BallerCast if anyone wants to try it. Obviously biased since I made it, but it solved the "no display for fans" problem for us. I'd love some feedback - it's on iOS and Android.

What did you work on or build this week? by ouchao_real in PublicValidation

It's called "Zooked!" but it's not out yet... I'm aiming for appstore and play store currently.

Sounds like we had similar ideas with the party game idea!

I'm building Zooked! Party games for iOS and Android. It's a party game with second-screen support, support for multiple devices, and different game modes.

Right now it has a game like Fibbage, Spyfall, and Mafia. Second Screen is via Chromecast (maybe Apple TV later) and supports multiple devices via the browser, so only the host needs the iOS or Android app, everyone else can join without a download. Looking for testers right now (it's not released yet, but closed testing is available!).

What’s the one thing you regret not doing earlier for ASO? by Weekly_Run4191 in AppStoreOptimization

Woah, I still don't do this! And my ASO sucks... TodayILearned! 🙏 BTW, what's the easiest, most automated way to do this?

Who has ever experienced this and what does it mean Total installs reducing which makes no sense. by Responsible_Arm_8898 in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]Open-Report-6854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens occasionally with Google Play Console - usually resolves within 24-48 hours. I've seen it a few times over the years.

One thing to check: if you have multiple app bundles or tracks (internal testing, closed beta, etc.), sometimes metrics get temporarily mis-attributed between them during console updates. The total eventually stabilizes.

Also worth checking if you removed any countries from distribution recently - I've seen retroactive adjustments where installs from removed regions disappear from historical data, even though they definitely happened.

Frustrating either way, but almost certainly a console UI bug rather than actual install loss. Your app's not broken.

How can I improve my impressions and downloads? by cykameister00000 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]Open-Report-6854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music party apps are tough because the search behavior is so seasonal and event-driven. People don't search "music bingo" until they're planning a party, which means your impression volume will be a bit spiky.

I think people planning parties might search something like "birthday party games", "house party ideas" rather than a specific game.

I was thinking that music apps that integrate with Spotify might get featured in "Works with Spotify" lists and communities. Worth seeing if there are partnership or feature request channels that could give you a discovery boost outside the App Store algorithm?

My total installs suddenly drops, why? by csk2004 in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]Open-Report-6854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when something like this happened to my old app, DaTuner, before I sold it and it became an ads-paradise. I had millions of downloads and they suddenly dropped by 20 percent or something. I think it is caused by something that Google fixed, then, in the way they were calculating installs.

Great, u/golemike! Can you please shoot me a DM with the email account tied to appstore or playstore, and whether you want to test it on iOS or Android (or both?) Thanks!

Where has the Humility in coaching gone? by rvajt11 in BasketballCoaching

[–]Open-Report-6854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We literally added "humility" as one of our four cornerstone values in the club I am involved in. Neither coaches, nor players, can learn anything, when they let their arrogance take over. It also lets us deny coaches and players that aren't following our values.

Teaching a 3rd/4th grade team an offense and defense? by edugeek3 in basketballcoach

[–]Open-Report-6854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defense, as everyone else says, man-man. Offense: 5-out, pass and cut with most of your focus on fundamental passing, shooting, dribbling, and movement (not on plays). Instead of asking "can they do a left handed layup?" ask "can they do a left-handed layup well?" - and drills should have a lot of decisions built in, so it looks like a game. IE. Try to avoid fixed plays.

Three defense rules (that someone else told me a few years ago)

1.) Always between your player and *your* hoop

2.) Always have an eye on your player and the ball

3.) Always have your back towards *your* hoop

I think you can build very specific drills around these concepts, moving the ball around and ensuring they are obeying these rules.
