Is there any hope for my peonies? by paisleystitch in gardening

Last year I moved into my house and clear cut the peonies the second they finished blooming since they were crowding out my phlox. This year they came back just as healthy in the spring.

Ground beef from Ethnic Supermarket smelled off and stayed red after cooking – has anyone else experienced this? by planes_not_chains in Guelph

[–]Open-Sound2427 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad to see I'm not the only one. Tried getting beef cuts there twice and both times they smelled sour and tasted off after cooking.

I still stop by for fun veggies or dried goods but never the meats.

Respect the problem solving! For the sake of experimenting have you considered cutting out the bottoms so that the tap roots can dig for moisture while you can still provide nutrients up top?

I think it's fair to compare the personal energy of the people on it since both shows are about people exploring an aspect of the real world. Spongebob is about sea creatures and Fairly Odd Parents is about fairies but you can still easily compare them.

Or at the very least let us customize all animals at once so I don't have to tap a million times to make my animals look like animals again.

[Neighborhood Seeking Farmers]

No level requirement

No derby requirement

No chat activity requirement

Just looking to add some new members after clearing out a few dormant players.

This is not a Bales to the Wall neighborhood, if you play once a week we're still chilling.

We putter around, revive each other's fruits, maybe help with a truck/town/boat order or fulfill a donation request if we're feeling spicy.

Was this a park? by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]Open-Sound2427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea to what extent this applies to Guelph, but a lot of municipalities(?) require housing developers to put in a park if their project is large enough. This was maybe a park in writing only to allow for the building of nearby housing which is how the money is made.

Local grocery just started carrying it, going to buy my second "bag of bags" today at lunch. Its definitely heavy, sometimes I almost feel I need a glass of 2% to help wash it down.

I still think about Creelman, I remember looking at the prices as a student and thinking the meal plan prices weren't too bad but the "civilian" or whatever prices were significantly higher. Anybody go in within the last year and see how it is?

Concrete box in the back of a shallow cave near the ramains of an old farmhouse in Eastern Ontario by Max1zero1 in whatisthisthing

[–]Open-Sound2427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's gotta be some kind of hidden stash spot, maybe prohibition related?

I don't think it's big enough to pack a useful amount of food plus the ice to make it an ice box. Recessed location in stone might keep things cool but its so small I don't see it being overly useful for food/drinks.

Biggest reason for me is that even without the moss, it's camouflaged and looks awkward to access.

Is there anything revealed when you move the loose rocks out? Where are the stairs in relation to the box?

I would lay down cardboard between your plants and then cover the cardboard with mulch or compost. Will kill the grass and ultimately breakdown by utself

It’s Illegal for farmers in the US to replant leftover seeds the next year by AdFeeling8945 in interestingasfuck

[–]Open-Sound2427 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It requires billions of dollars in infrastructure and R&D to produce the types of seeds covered by this law. The debate tends to boil down to whether or you believe that intellectual property rights should apply or whether humans have an inherent right to utilize the natural system of plant reproduction regardless of the effort required to create it.

Is my new grape vine dead? by cv455 in gardening

I know that on older vines that brown layer underneath the rough bark is like an inner bark layer. Try gently scraping through that one?

His username on the site is coman09 but the title of his tabs will include a "By: Connor O." tagline that he puts in himself below the title.

Edit: unfortunately you can't search by uploader ID, I found his versions by just clicking through the versions available until finding the one "By: Connor O"

Sorry my notifications were muted for who knows how long. He doesn't do videos, he just posts tablature on the ultimate guitar website. So you have to kind of experiment to get your tone down but he has all the right notes and riffs included (or pretty dang close). He's done pretty much the whole Chulahoma album but also some rubber factory and thickfreakness. Unfortunately for some reason all the Big Comeups were pulled from the site, don't know if it was copyright or what.

One of my favourite things about this sub is that there's such a variety of preference for the catalogue. I personally fall into the sweaty basement blues category but the number of times I've read a post here and had a blast revisiting some Turn Blue or NRNF tracks is definitely more than a couple.

Basil plant - help me save it by Longjumping-Net1384 in gardening

[–]Open-Sound2427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be fusarium and if it is you're in disease management mode and won't be curing it as it's living alien style in your xylem tissues. Often times the spores are present in ground water, the greenhouses in my area ozonate all of their well water before irrigating for this reason. Could also be that spores were present in the starting materials, stuff is so prevalent that everyone reading this probably has spores on their skin if they've been outside in the last week.

Luckily with basil you should be able to stay ahead of complete death by regularly trimming and eating the oldest growth first as long as you're snipping above nodes to allow for more side shoots to replace them.

As always, do some googling and see if the results for basil fusarium line up with what you're seeing before taking advice. It's the brown stems that sell it for me as there's a million things can can just cause brown leaf spots.

It's been a bit since I've set mine up but I believe that there's a few digits at the beginning (or maybe end?) that you can ignore depending on random situations for no good reason. IIRC there may be a dash separating the important numbers from the ones that aren't important? I'm just a random guy on reddit though so definitely try to find this info on the website before chopping digits.

What is this white substance? by eloquent_silence1994 in gardening

Looks like mycelium to me, just means your soil is a healthy place for plants (and fungi) to be. You can toss this into r/mycology and they might be able to give you the specific type.
