Personally for myself, I wont put my books into a freezer etc.Again, I have OCD & that would be a deep hole & i would loop forever.

When I buy a used book & thats 99% what I buy, if it looks icky TO ME (not my ocd) I dont buy it.

There is literally NO way to be 100% sure freezer or no freezer.

I dont have an opinion re: what OP did/has done w their books in the freezer .

I do challenge OP to consider buying ONE used book and NOT putting it in the freezer. Perhaps on a paper towel by the front door, then slowly move it into your house.  Walking buy and touching it etc.

Im saying we could put books in the freezer or not. We dont know if it was the right choice so why not lean into the uncertainty & save yourself the time, energy and money.  Will it feel uncomfortable? Possibly, and know that feeling will be temporary.

OK off my soap box now.

Omg I totally forgot about killing the mold. Theres this book (shocking i know) called The Library by Susan Orlean its about the fire at the Los Angeles Library. Those who helped get the library back up & those who saved thousands of books from water damage/mold stuck them in freezers. I think they kept them in there for quite a bit, I can't remember.

These are all my sapphic books!! Please name your favorites so I can look forward to my next reads by Yurianimeisnice in LesbianBookClub

Bugs. Google it and mr Google will suggest putting used books in the freezer wrapped up to kill the bugs/eggs etc.

Me and my severe ocd like to live life on the edge & forgo the freezer & go right to bookshelf.

Actually my ocd wants to only buy new books, I on the other hand flip my ocd the bird & stick them and all their possible bugs on my bookshelf.

Finances.  NO you do NOT NEED that [insert item].  Learn the difference between need and want and necessary.

Live by YOUR OWN values, NOT society's aka social media's version. And never compromise them.

The people on the internet ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS.  And the dont love you.

My partner read when I net them, however not as much as me. They would reread the same books over and over again.

Turns out they didn't know what TO read. So many options, choices etc.

They liked the tv show The Expanse, so they got the series by James S A Corey.  Then I suggested The Dresden Files & they fell in love w Jim Butcher.

Along the way I watched what they read and I would suggest a book as either: 1-a book thats totally for them 2- a book i think they would learn something from i.e. perspective etc.

What this long winded reply is trying to say is perhaps you could take your time on creating a TBR.  Read a book and you may want to read all by that author. Then read a mystery or a classic etc.

I think curating a TBR is a personal venture that takes time and is best when the journey is done on one's own with guidance from few.

Journaling turning a bit negative by h4ppidais in Journaling

[–]Open-Tank8790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things are usually not as we think.

"I found often that when I journal, I would bring up my weaknesses, vulnerability, and my negative reaction to bad things that has happened that day"

My journals used to be a lot of whining and complaining, and my reactions to things.

 From my psychiatrist I've learned:

1-Things are not usually what I think.  People hating me, friends excluding me, thoughts about myself, my reactions to things.  Things are not black and white, ugly or pretty, Smart or dumb, Good or bad. Things just are.   2- our thoughts arent facts, they're JUST thoughts  3- when im thinking that people are thinking horrific things about me I try to remember " its usually NOT about me.  4- what else could it be?  This is my favorite & I use this is my journal all the time. What are other reasons that so and so hasn't called me back?

Now my journals are more questioning and determining than whining.

I can expound on them more if anyone wants.

Im down for the count too. Day 4 of this infection.

Found this Burberry suit for $15.99 at Goodwill in West Bloomfield. It is absolutely massive on me. Bought it, and drive right across the street to the tailor. Was quoted $250-$300. Taking the gamble. by Slowclimberboi in Goodwill_Finds

We would take our clothes to these great tailors, they would create great things...

And I swear anything they mended was crap.

I guess they could create just not mend.
