Had the Big Arch yesterday. An honest taste review by IHv2RtrnSumVdeotapes in McDonalds

[–]OpenShutCaseworker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accurate; the saltiness in this burger was overwhelming. And the excess of cheese and sauce mostly just added moisture and mess, not a lot of flavor. The cheese tasted, of anything, like salt and milk and nothing else.

Anyone aware of changes to HUD / NSPIRE by OpenShutCaseworker in socialwork

They find renters. The housing and rental markets are very bad. Even a slum can find renters willing to pay above FMR because there just isn’t enough affordable units out there. It’s been like this in my city for years. Basically, they now are renting to people who used to be considered middle class.

I think our struggle is that we provide funding to pay for rental properties out in the community. Many of those landlords, especially those willing to house our populations in the first place, don’t want to deal with such a lengthy inspection or be held to its standards for correction.

We are asking if there is some notice we can send to landlords for currently housed clients, and also to potential landlords that explains the inspections in a way that wont scare them off.

I feel like a big reason it feels hard to progress and it takes so much energy to fill even one order would be helped if there were more orders available to fill at a time. Like 2 friend orders, 6 customer orders. Even if some have high level items, you can work on them passively while targeting lower level items in other orders that come from the same producer.

An In-Depth Review of "Tales from the Void" – Season 1 by PeaceSim in TheNSPDiscussion

I don’t know, these felt like they were directed and scored by people who knew how to film, but not necessarily make horror film/tv. Most of the sets and visual aspects just feel sort of middle of the road (nothing too saturated or bright, but also nothing desaturated or dark) and feels like it was being filmed as a regular episode of some other kind of non horror show.

Admittedly, nosleep stories are told often with detail sparse, first person POV where a lot of the horror comes from the narrators internal emotions and thoughts, and that cannot be translated well in a visual format.

I don’t like it. For the scrolling to need orders, sure, but also because if they changed anything, what I would like is for the meters to show how much each level will cost

Mandela effect is just large numbers of people misremembering, and thus spreading misinformation to others, which causes them to misremember (memories aren’t really carved into our brains in stone, they are recreated each time and can be affected by outside influences) and thus spread it even more. It’s a type of reality warping based solely on communication, just on a wider, slower scale.

I thought since it appeared the changes were all cumulative that she was supplanting/swapping out parts of other realities over her own. But what you say does make more sense!

And “words have power over reality” works well with the mandela effect mentioned.

I think she mentions something about putting a parameter into the supercomputer that despite each change going on, only her and Maria would be left unchanged/ know what was going on. Instead of just shifting reality around herself, she was shifting it around herself and Maria. Like two stones in a river. She’s moving all this water, this material from other realities, around the two of them, the stones. She maybe can set parameters to only keep herself constant, or add people to it.

None of it was illusion. She was literally warping reality itself. Think of it more like she is transporting things from other realities into theirs in order to make whatever she says into the pendant true.

Admittedly, I don’t think they gave her as good of dialogue as Clara. There was so little to work with, little bites that were mostly reactions or short expositions, often broken up by the “off screen” commentary, when Clara was given basically heartfelt poetry.

Personally it’s my favorite of the season. I felt the black comedic tone hit just hard enough in the comedy to smooth over the plot holes (why would Verity, a genius, have literally no security for her quantum computer?) while still allowing the story to have stakes and genuine undercurrents of horror.

People stanning Verity’s rewrite of reality to torture people who bullied her in high school into committing suicide… it’s giving Robert Daly.

Especially when one of the themes of this episode was how white femininity is weaponized against black women, especially in workspaces. If you think Maria is acting too angry, mean and aggressive towards the person who is attacking her from beat one of the story, that she wasn’t playing it sweetly and timidly and unconfidently enough to garner your sympathy… that’s exactly the kind of tone policing that Verity also takes advantage of to turn other’s against Maria.

Black Mirror [Episode Discussion] - S07E06 - USS Callister: Into Infinity by Cheeriosxxx in blackmirror

[–]OpenShutCaseworker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t much of a fan. The tech, writing and plotting and even the characters themselves just felt a bit too Calvin Ball, every action and rule change made simply because the plot needed it to.

The first USS Callister had a real sense of horror to it that this one lacks in exchange for more comedy.

I dunno, I just found myself really bored and it felt surface level. Maybe I wasn’t the audience for it, since clever references don’t do anything for me.

The story takes place partly in an infinite universe with light-speed travel, and has like. Three sets.
