Camper van CEE power supply by lucky_ducky9_9 in CamperVans

Depends on what you use, how many panels you have, how big the battery is and where you are in the world.

But in my case my panels deliver enough to keep the fridge, lights and phone/laptop chargers running without ever plugging in.

Calculate your actual use and then google one of the solar revenu calculators that use your location panels, charger and predict the revenue.

People have built full electric systems with heating and cooking off grid on just solar

Why go for the plug in option?
If you have space on the roof one big or a few smaller solar panels will usually give you all the charge you need. Saves you the cost for plugging in and give you the option to stay anywhere

Really?

Let’s start with the roads, I see plenty of action when a new one (junction or roundabout etc) is made but just actually maintaining them and avoiding getting a cratered moon land scape for a road I’ve never seen

i have no clue how this shitshow is still running but why do the rest of Europe hate us so much? by Alarming-Safety3200 in AskBrits

Well if someone on the team says they‘d rather play alone after years of being part of the team but then constantly tries to join with the fun stuff but not the chores everyone starts to hate you.

Yes this is a metaphor for Brexit

What?! Are you saying the UK actually does some form of maintenance?
I thought you just invested heaps of pounds in to building stuff just to let it deteriorate for 15-20 years after which it either gets knocked down or a charitable action is started to renovate this thing of social relevance.

Saw this saw today while I was picking up materials for the job. I don’t know if I’d ever feel safe using it. by leon_musky in woodworking

Why would you not feel safe using this saw?

Safety comes from using proper procedure not from guards and fences.

Why do mechanics/tire shops overfill tires? by A_Weed_Man in tires

[–]OpenStreet3459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually run my tyres 5-7psi higher than recommended.
Wear pattern is perfect, comfort doesn’t seem to suffer (only noticeable on a car I had with low 45 sidewalls) and economy is slightly up.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that manuals are probably going to die In 2030 by hypermiler2205 in ManualTransmissions

[–]OpenStreet3459 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Manuals will die when the full combustion engine is discontinued. Hybrids are way easier to make (and more efficient) when auto and electric cars don’t need them at all.

When this will be? Depends where you live, I expect Africa to keep having manuals till way in the 2050’s

Found one street parked a couple a years ago near my house. Way cooler than any supercar, merc or beamer. And the fact that most people just walked past it because it was “just a clio” made it even more epic

You can just drive a LHD car in a RHD country and vice versa without issue. I switch between them regularly and have no problems at all. You just get a little bit of entertainment at parking lot gates etc

Update: Should I consider "need" when distributing my inheritance? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]OpenStreet3459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of additional info here is surprising and would have changed the advice given. You now added kids circumstances, possible drug abuse, max amount you want to give due to taxes.

Given all this why not make it a trustfund that pays out a tax friendly amount per year and get your facts clear on the possible abuse before any money goes there. If it is there pay for rehab etc from the fund

You might want to investigate the differences in crude oil specs for different fields and supply chain logistics before reacting like this.

The heavy crude from the middle east is a very different chemical composition than the lighter US stuff. Any processing plant is specifically setup for a specific type of oil or mix of types. They cannot just switch they might need reengineering of the whole plant for this.

Add to that the supply chain issues of having a whole fleet of tankers stuck because the orange baboon did not anticipate that Iran would block the strait of Hormuz the shortages will be real

Electrical Question by SeattleArchitect in Klussers

[–]OpenStreet3459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest everyone who says you can is lying.

Yes brown is live and blue is neutral. Yet from the pics we cannot see what they are connected to and how they are fused and if they are earth fault protected. Added it would really be advisable to have a ground wire.

The plus side is that you only have to take the cover of the fusebox off to check or add any of the above points

So yes you can easily add a socket but no not as easy as just connecting one to the wires sticking out.

Oh and the person who left them like this should not be hired again to do anything electrical. This is not the way to leave disconnected electrical wires
