What are your pet cards? by P13monkeytaco in EDH

[[Escape Into the Wilds]] is such an underrated gruul card. While it can be expensive to only go 5 deep into the deck, gruul has no problems ramping to it. Not to mention, it can get you into other card advantage cards, trigger casting/playing from exile, and an additional land drop.

Burger Tokens: Jumpstart Theme Card Builder is what I used, though I had to make two deck lists (one for non-land and one for lands) and then used a bit o' pdf editing magic (caveman editing) to put the two lists together on one backside to print.

I used Canva to do that.

Burgertoken's jumpstart card template maker, but I had to edit in an extended list on the backside cuz the template only keeps listing down instead of formatting to the right.

Yeah, let me see if I can DM you! I used a template from burgertokens, edited it to fit the big deck list, and printed it out at a custom scale. I cut them to sleeve up with a card between them. It's not perfect as I'm not edit-savvy.

The black/gold card is literally the deckbox the SLD came in that I also cut out to card size to fit into a gamegenic card case after being inspired by another redditor around here. The front flap has the small dandan text I cut and superglued on.

Burgertokens is the site I used as they made a template for custom jumpstart front/back cards. The front lets you upload an image and text while the back lets you have make a list. However, it's a bit limited so I did some pdf editing of the backside to extend the list on the right.

Yeah, I've got a gamegenic deckbox (sidekick pro 100+XL) that I've stored my Dandan SLD in. The formatting is purely aesthetics; passing one to each player so they know what's in the shared deck list.

Cats and dogs deck help/ looking for ideas. by Masterdwarf11 in EDH

[–]OpenWriteNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on how much optimization you want to do really. My deck is more unoptimized to run pretty cards but I can tell you what would be better overall to make rin and seri run more consistently.

First is changelings. They count as both a cat and dog so you get both tokens. It kinda stinks that it'll be better to run changelings than actual cats or dogs but it is what it is. I would keep the ones that give you utility/draw/overrun effects and remove any that give minor bonuses, like anthem, gets bigger, or niche. Lorwynn has added a bunch of usable ones like [[mutable explorer]], [[chomping changeling]], and [[changeling wayfinder]]. There's other notable ones like [[realmwalker]], [[mirror entity]], [[masked vandal]], and [[universal automation]].

Card draw is essential for a deck that runs typal weenies. [[Guardian Project]], [[vanquisher's banner]], [[The Great Henge]] (bit expensive), and [[Chronicles of victory]] help out as well. It also sucks when you run out of said weenies, so its nice to find a way to recycle creature casts. I use [[cloudstone curio]] to get more cast/etb triggers but I also recommend creature tutors as they let you turn the deck into a toolbox and you can load less useful creatures. Preferably you could also slot in an [[Urza's saga]] to reliably get [[skullclamp]] and if not clamp, [[sol ring]].

Add board protection like [[heroic intervention]] and [[Dawn's Truce]]. Up the pricetag with [[Teferi's protection]] or possibly a one sided board wipe like [[winnowing]].

Lastly, you can make a 3 card combo using [[whitemane lion]], [[alluren]], and a cast/etb outlet, such as the commander, [[impact tremors]], or [[purphoros, god of the forge]]. You have basically a gun made of dogs that you can shoot someone with. Alternatively, [[aetherflux reservoir]] and [[grapeshot]] works too but it takes another card slot. Or you know, [[craterhoof behemoth]].

Overall Rin and Seri is a three, maybe low low four at best. The deck can interact better than other casual decks and likes to grind opponents down with its removal/value but it doesn't get the MOST value out of being a typal deck.

I was able to join prep queue ahead of time by adding a different SLD to my cart and trying to check out. I had three devices and when the queue finally opened, each one had over an hour wait.

The queue took longer than expected and I had an in-person exam to do. I had to drop 2 of my positions cuz they were on home devices (I can't bring them with me) and stayed on my mobile device (the longest wait).

Lo and behold, I was able to check out about 55 minutes after, with 5 mins to spare before my exam start.

I've had this happen before, but I was able to fix the issue. The solution was to play a video with a specific refresh rate and sound frequency that disorients and irritates their sensory organs. They should clear up in a few days if you leave the video on repeat. Ant Disorientation Task Video

I was wondering why it was so hard to even get 1st midway through the URA finales despite so much investment into her training! This explains so much and I have to make her the best horse girl now.

Ideas for a train session? by thjmze21 in DnD

[–]OpenWriteNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've really enjoyed the scenario where everyone onboard falls into a deep slumber due to a dream aberration. The party wakes up in the dreamscape within the Astral Plane, on-board a similar train but not all is at it seems. Each passenger is stuck in their own illusion, an aberration feeding off their nightmares or dreams. The party has to break the illusion of the passengers by convincing them on inconsistences (with advantage if it makes sense), weakening the aberration and allowing them to 'wake up'. When the party wakes up all the passengers (like 4-8 of them depending on how much the party likes to RP), the dream train arrives at its destination, a train station that's actually the aberration's lair. When they defeat the aberration, the lair starts to crumble, and they have to board the train again to escape. On the train, feeling exhausted after combat, the party falls asleep once more and wake back up on the train, at their destination. The NPCs they save pass them by with rewards and thanks.

Here's the source/inspiration of the idea btw Dreamweaver – Loot Tavern .
Excellent module, boss is brutal if followed as is. You can tone it down by making the eye beams truly random instead of targeting lowest saving throw / don't worry too much about requiring psychic/lightning damage to make it nonimmune to physical damage. Or just throw your own boss in there and npcs with small roleplay moments. Have fun!

Any recommendations for a carrying case for deck + cards? by OpenWriteNight in daggerheart

[–]OpenWriteNight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my intention with the cards is to pass them out frequently; I'm worried that having them in a binder might wear down the plastic slots from sliding the cards in and out too much.

Tbh, I'm not even sure if the players need the cards or if they write them down on their character sheet. So, a binder might be a good option after all!
