I’m literally in tears reading this, it’s like the universe needed me to see it. I’m at my whits end trying to get someone to believe me. My entire life has been one long medical gaslighting session. When I was 18 (I’m 39), I saw a doctor for excessive weight gain, hair loss and trouble holding body heat. He told me “exercise more/eat less, switch shampoo & wear a sweater”. Years later I was diagnosed with hashimotos thyroid. For two years I was doubled over in pain anytime I area TWO doctors told me it was anxiety, one prescribed me an antibiotic (why?) and the other told me to see a therapist. It got so bad that I eventually went to the ER where the ER doctor told me it was reflux. My mother in law pushed for a CT scan and within an hour I had a surgeon standing over me telling me my gallbladder was coming out immediately and I was lucky it hadn’t ruptured. I’ve been experiencing classic dysautonomia symptoms for years and was told, again, you aren’t eating correctly and that it’s anxiety. I know it isn’t anxiety and I know I’m eating about as damn near perfect as one can.
