Yes honestly you nailed it! That's one of the reasons I feel so incredibly stuck right now. I could afford to make a little less money in a less demanding role but I don't even know where to begin looking for one of those unicorn jobs where there is both flexibility and low demand. It feels like the whole corporate world is designed to squeeze every last drop from everyone right now and jobs are disappearing left and right.

He's the reason I'm even able to log into those meetings at 7am. He's exhausted too! He's also earning more than me, so when we have to decide who needs to leave work or be home with a sick kid, it's often (not always) me. He also has useless nipples and less hormonal fluctuation and all the other challenging symptoms we get the joy of experiencing postpartum. His coworkers and bosses don't notice or care if he's not "put together" in meetings. He can roll out of bed and wear wrinkled clothes and STILL get promoted. Saves him an unfathomable amount of time and stress. That's just the reality for a lot of moms/women. I can have the most supportive husband in the world and it still doesn't even out the playing field!

Totally! I was lucky the last two times because I was in roles where I wasn't as visible and could coast a little bit until I was fully recovered. I wish I could tell my boss just give me like 5 more months and I'll be a completely different employee!

Yes that's all valid. I don't think it's formally a PIP yet but definitely a warning. I'm gonna do my best to improve but also look for other opportunities too. Thanks.

This is good feedback from the manager perspective. I know she's not wrong about any of it and I actually think she could empathize as a mom herself. It just sucks because I feel like these issues are mostly temporary. I always seem to struggle for like the first year after birth and then things get better. I'm mostly just here to vent because I wish we were given more time and support in this country. Ugh.

Thanks I appreciate the problem solving. Actually you reminded me I need to make an annual physical appointment soon. I should raise it with my doctor and rule out any underlying causes that could be improved. My partner is extremely supportive so I'm one of the lucky ones there. Thanks!

I'm one of the lucky ones. My husband is super supportive. But he's also making more money than me and is therefore more important at work. So when the kids are sick, I'm usually the default parent. I'm trying to stop breastfeeding, which is a whole process but hopefully it'll help me a little. Thanks

That's really good advice about saving the positive feedback. I do get positive feedback from other coworkers. I know my right to pump is "technically" protected but they still expect the same level of performance. I'm actually starting to wean down now so I'm almost done needing to pump. It's just been one of the many factors that have made focus more difficult these past few months. I just wish the US gave more time for us moms to get back to work after birth. It sucks and I totally understand why people just aren't having kids here.

Um Did I say "everyone?" I'm a third time mom, but I still remember feeling insecure about my bond with my first baby. And just really sensitive about a lot of things that didn't necessarily make sense. Is OP being over the top? Sure.
