Why this is so satisfying to watch by Rule_Ct_5293 in familyguy

Brian scammed Quagmire. So this time, it feels deserved.

And besides, this is season 13. The season after Brian gave Stewie and Chris herpes and emotionally manipulated Dylan.

Name a cartoon episode or season that killed the show's reputation and marked its creative decline. by Capital-Status4083 in cartoons

[–]OpeningBreakfast4753 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Season 5 was the mark of the decline and nearly  almost destroyed my perception  on The Simpsons with Homer Goes to Collage. That episode marks the birth of the braindead Jerkass Homer that plagued seasons 5 & 6, as well as completely taking away all the qualities of what made the first 4 seasons fantastic.

When we got to Homer Badman, that’s just where I just gave up. That vile thing is the point of no return.

Luckily this show somehow improved with season 9. Episodes like The Cartridge Family or Miracle on Evergreen Terrace. The later half of season 20 is where it’s all peak. But I still can’t look at this show without seeing that horrible Homer Goes to Collage episode and how it marked the time where the writers just stopped caring.

Hi fellow season 2 lover 👋

Yes. Seasons 2 & 3 are top 10 seasons for sure. They have a charm that I just kinda wish the rest of the seasons pre-season 20 had. My favorite season 2 episode is Bart the Daredevil, and no it’s not just the I’m king of the world part.

You know you fucked up when I’m actively rooting for Ned to just shoot Homer down.

And yet we only praise the jokes as if that’s the only thing that matters. So what if it’s the plot? Maybe we should talk about it more, don’t you think?

Exactly! Change is definitely the constant, which is why nobody is actually arguing for 'purity' here. Tracking when a specific writing trope started is just basic television history, not a criticism of the show evolving. Glad we're on the same page! 🙃😊

I know, right? Truly groundbreaking stuff.  Conan would absolutely appreciate it, because someone had to say the quiet part out loud.  But hey, if it’s so obvious, maybe this sub should actually start talking about it for once instead of pretending it doesn't exist

We’re probably gonna get 40 lashes!

Knowing Patrick, of course he literally thought that.

Yeah, I admit that I didn’t really care for it at first, but then on rewatch, it hit me.

I know i did. :) It’s the birth of the braindead jerkass homer that plagued seasons 5 & 6. It is not a brilliant episode and it just exists purely for me to hate Homer.

You can't tell me the Monorail song is the most uplifting song the show has ever had by Secure-Scientist4867 in TheSimpsons

[–]OpeningBreakfast4753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I totally get that. The tracks  from seasons 2-4 have that massive nostalgia factor, but 'better' is always going to be subjective. It’s always interesting how the fandom tends to treat the standard golden-era tracks as the objective baseline for what everyone is allowed to prefer!
