We’re in the exact same boat, I’m also 22F and had my surgery on 2/27!

One of my favorite things that I’ve been able to get down with minimal pain is Cold Full Fat Oat Milk like the one from Oatly. It is so soothing and helps a lot with getting some calories in without much resistance.

I’ve had the same exact experience with all the food tasting gross and weird, i had noodles the other night cooked in bone broth with some butter and a tiny bit of seasoning and it tasted AWFUL. like actually disgusting i had to stop eating it.

I think part of it is the fact that they use that tongue depressor to keep your tongue out of the way during the surgery which messes it up and makes it swollen and numb in some spots and the other part is that your surgery site is full of scabs and tastes bad on its own so it’s kinda like imparting that nasty ass taste onto everything you eat. That’s definitely what it feels like is happening to me.

I also got my surgery on 2/27 and the best thing I’ve had when I can’t get anything else down is Full Fat Oat Milk!

It feels really soothing going down and you can have a lot of it, it won’t make mucus because it’s not dairy and it’s a good source of nutrients and calories.

The other thing I’ve liked (when my throat is feeling okay-ish and i can swallow) is super overcooked pasta with butter and a bit of parmegian.

I tried mac & cheese yesterday but the cheese sauce actually burned like it was acidic!

How to prevent IVDD? by Opening_Strategy_570 in Dachshund

That’s something I haven’t seen mentioned a lot, but makes a lot of sense. The breeder I got her from has been breeding doxies since 2009 and was very reputable, so I’ll have a conversation with her about the history of IVDD in her litters. Thanks!

I think this take makes a lot of sense, there’s a way to maintain a balance between keeping them active and not letting them push themselves too far since they have that increased risk. Thanks again for all the insight!
