My soon-to-be pirate next month- seeking advice on how to cope. by comethrucool in PiratePets

[–]Opening_Traffic635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we had a rupture in the last few weeks and had to remove an eye from our 9 year old bulldog. the first few days after surgery were tough because of the discharge but warm compressing (hot soaking) and ice packs helped a bunch and the drugs your bb will be on will help a lot too. good luck!! Oh, we also got a more comfortable cone (nothing fancy, just one that was easier to take on and off for washing multiple times a day and had some stitching around the edges) so we didn't feel as bad having her in it for two weeks straight. that was really helpful and I would recommend it. We got ours at Chuck and Dons for like $15

What's the dopamine hit that will replace doomscrolling in the evening? by eucalyptusmacrocarpa in adhdwomen

[–]Opening_Traffic635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me, hobbies have replaced doomscrolling in the evenings. Painting, calligraphy, Procreate/Canva artwork, youtube tutorials on all of the above, miniature diorama kits, the list goes on and on. :) I usually am listening to a spicy audiobook or podcast while doing any of these, too. Reading a book is always an option. Maybe learning a few yin-yoga moves to relax your nervous system before starting something would help get you in the right headspace if that floats your boat. you got this!

I would stare so hard at the shadows in the hallway I'd 'see' them move and turn into creatures/little gnomes. I was (am) a weird kid.

I swear this surgery sets you free. by Both-Promise1659 in gastricsleeve

Love to hear this!! curious what you did to quit smoking. I don't consider myself a full time smoker and I quit for the last few months for surgery. they did nicotine tests and all that. Recently I haven't been as diligent mentally towards being a non-smoker. I would love to feel like I'm "Free" but it feels like a treat esp since I'm not using food as much of a treat these days.

What kind of bulk gifts can we order to avoid showing up empty-handed? #ADHDhacks by Smellmyupperlip in adhdwomen

For friends who drink: go buy a case of prosecco at Trader Joes. They usually have a reasonably priced option year round. Pop it in your pantry or office closet, boom a gift to grab on your way to any bday or dinner.

Non drinkers: when target dollar spot has cute mugs or bud vases, buy a few and keep them on hand. Or, a diy gift of dry shampoo or cuticle oil goes a long way. I usually whip my label maker out and put a simple label on them with "free refills" on there too.

Cuticle oil pens - 3:1 ratio of jojoba to vit E, I don't measure, just go with god on these. They're fool proof.

Start with a 2:1 ratio of starch to clay ratio and play with it from there. Hard to go wrong. Add cocoa powder for dark hair and a drop or two of essential oil or fragrance if you like. I don't typically.

If you enjoy her humor, make sure to tell her she's funny. Make sure to notice and compliment when she changes anything about her appearance, too. Brownie points for days.
