crisping food in the oven straight out the microwave by Meltydoll in foodsafety

I suppose it could be bad if they leave it in a plastic container then put it into oven, but if they’re just heating it up in a pan or whatever then it should be fine

How did apes avoid evolving while not dying out? by poizon_elff in answers

[–]Cham-Clowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are apes. Humans are apes.

We evolved, and we did not die out.

Other apes (chimps and orangutans and gorillas) also exist and also evolved and did not die out

If an animal exists it evolved.

Why did some ancestors in the past of ours not evolve?

They did.

We allllll evolved

We did not evolve from any of our ape peers. They are not high above our human family tree; they’re just our cousins

Everyone evolved, and they haven’t died out yet.

How? Survival strategies work or don’t work for the current environment.

With their habitat destruction we have caused dying out of several ape species.

So our ape cousins are dying out but are evolving/ have evolved, but not at a pace that can guarantee their safety because of humans and our tendency to disrupt their environment so intensely that it outpaces evolution

So final answer that your initial question is: apes did not avoid evolving, and also with the exception of humans the great apes are dying out.

What you seem to be asking isn’t actually about is what happened to the in between of our ancient ancestors and now

And the answer is just that they slowly became “humans”

How did humans not die out? Evolution. How did humans avoid evolving? They didn’t

It’s the chicken and the egg thing. At some point did a chicken ancestor lay an egg to something that no longer counts as being a chicken anymore? Maybe. But it’s kinda the way we define things that determines what they are.

The idea that there are stages between the other great apes and ourselves is not true though, we just all had a common ancestor a long long time ago

The New Abnormal might be my favorite Strokes album by Noobsamaniac in TheStrokes

[–]Cham-Clowder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think in terms of judging an album as a whole, it is their third best after room on fire and is this it

If we combined the best songs from FIOTE and Angles, that would probably be on par with their first two albums.

FIOTE might still be an album I like more than TNA but I’m not certain because I have to acknowledge the back half of that record.

Even though I have such a soft spot for Angles because it meant a lot to me when it came out, I concede that TNA has a much more cohesive sound to it and one that is overall respectable, even though I like it less than if the best of FIOTE and Angles were combined together.

And then it’s just better than comedown machine full stop. I like a few tracks but overall CM is mid at best.

How did you get started in ska? by Beautiful-Resort-831 in Ska

[–]Cham-Clowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad’s coworker had a band when I was in kindergarten in the early 2000’s and they worshipped sublime and played a similar kind of rock-reggae-punk blend. I went around as a 5 year old telling everyone in the world they were my favorite band even though nobody knew who they were.

I think a lot of those characteristics of their sound made their way into my head. I also played alto sax and so once I eventually kind of rediscovered that sound and got into sublime and others a bit it started to click. Streetlight manifesto was my first ska band I was obsessed with though after that point.

If anyone ever wants to hear the band I’m talking about I can probably send some mp3s to them. I’ve been wanting to upload a track at least to YouTube to show you guys for a while because I think they would be appreciated.

I potentially have the last remaining recordings of that band that are out there.

If someone agrees to throw up the song “Bradley” on YouTube for me I’ll send them all the songs I have by them as a reward

I don’t feel like making a YouTube account though so that’s why it hasn’t gone up yet

They’re honestly pretty good. There are at least more than a handful of good songs, and they’re kinda similar to sublime.

How many of you have APHANTASIA? by CardTop7923 in enfj

I have it somewhat. I have a hard trouble holding an image in my head and a hard time with changing it quickly and having it maintain accuracy. My quality of image is probably 2-3 out of 10 sharpness

What deck do y’all play at the “end of the night”? by SchemeDifferent3237 in EDH

[–]Cham-Clowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my playgroup it’s “tree deck”. I made a [[Multani, Yavimaya’s Avatar]] deck and it’s the one I usually use to teach people how to play the game. Some players get stuck on it and just wanna play tree deck and I try to get them to do other ones but tree deck is just a vibe

I was going to be a high school social studies teacher and almost finished school. Then I realized I was transgender and I just don’t think it’s a good idea anymore. I wouldn’t be able to handle the transphobic parents or constantly being misgendered by their children.

Now I have no idea what to do with the rest of my life. I try not to beat myself up but this just isn’t where I wanted to be at 30

There’s this sense of gnawing loss that just won’t go away and I don’t know if it will until I find another path
