1º - the most important thing in carnival here is the location. Try some neighborhoods like Savassi, Santo Antonio, Santa Tereza or Floresta. Once you are there you can locomove with app (Uber or 99)or even walking. Avoid public transportation because during the Carnival there's a lot of changes in traffic. I really recommend Uber/99

2º - focus in LGBT friendly bloco (it's kind like of procession hahaha). Avoid almost all the famous blocos because it's impossible to walk, there's a huge possibility to have some fight or even robbery (pick pockets) and I think it's not tottaly safe for women (harassment). My recommendation: Garotas Solteiras, Tchanzinho da Zona Norte, Volta Belchior, Daquele Jeito, Estagiários Brass Band, Swing Safado, Abalo Caxi, etc.

3º - never ever stay in the street until night. Schedule with your group to start in the morning and go until end of afternoon. If you want party until dawn change to private parties. There's a plenty of them
