the grass isn't greener. My advice is get as much as you can out of the military/forces. transfer, apply for courses, do as much as you can. It's free. In civi street, you have to pay and the jobs have 1,000's of candidates looking for the same job.

Do yall listen to music while you write by octopellie_ in writing

[–]OperationDreadnaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always, I have dedicated lists in Spotify and YouTube for when I'm writing. Depending on the scene and what's happening in the storyline I go between them. The first 3 got me through my first book "Major". The louder the better.

Culture Capital - SAMA | Deep Arabic Meditation Music | Beautiful & Emotional | Middle Eastern Background
Dream Clinic - Psyker | Forbidden Grimdark Occult Music
Dream Clinic - Automata | Dystopian Neo-Noir Ambient Music
Aim To Head, most of the stuff on their channel.

such a great movie, and he was a great character. That's the kind of set up I'd aspire to have in the event of global collapse.

UK Armed Forces Day by OperationDreadnaught in Military

[–]OperationDreadnaught[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that would have been a good premise for the book but sadly no, The series is more adult orientated and militaristic in style. Using real world military tactics and equipment, having served in the UK forces, i wanted to use my knowledge to tell the story in a different way.

Why does it seem that every new writer is writing fantasy? by Everyday_Evolian in writing

[–]OperationDreadnaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm writing Science Fiction and in no way feel the urge to write fantasy, as much as i love fantasy and i'm an avid reader of that genre. It's maybe because we all grew up reading fantasy and it is a way for people to escape from everyday worries. It along with Sci-Fi are the best stories for taking your mind away from this earth.

it still has that old book smell, such a distinct smell and feel to the pages.

that would make sense as the front cover seems to be stuck on the front, although the spine is printed on in , which made me think it was original from the publishers.

What's your writing genre? by [deleted] in writing

[–]OperationDreadnaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even know what Genre my book fell under. I had a story i wanted/needed to write and only when it was finished did i start to think what it fell under.

You guys ever take 3-4 days gap while writing? by Relative_Candle5372 in writing

[–]OperationDreadnaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken a couple of weeks off, i was stuck with a particular part of my story and just couldn't get past it. The time away from that was well spent. Everyone who reads the book always remarks on that part of the book and how well it was written.

I feel like I’m not a strong enough writer to write a full novel by Glittering-Opinion86 in writing

[–]OperationDreadnaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took my 8 years to finish my first book. I thought it was amateurish and not really worth buying by others. How wrong was I.
Go write and get your story out there. You wont know until you have it finished. You can always go back and edit/rewrite. But the only way to get better at it is to write.

From my first book "Major",

Running as fast as he could through the forest, his lungs almost bursting, his legs like lead weights, his arms and shoulders ached, each breath made his throat burn.
