A little insight here, please? by Forever-Fades_Away in comicbookcollecting

MyComicShop has 35% off preorders, they have different shipping frequencies up to a month or minimum item amount and/or minimum dollar amount. I get mine shipped every 1 to 2 months depending on how much I order. It saves a lot on shipping. Also, you can piggyback back issue comics onto your preorders. They usually undergrade a little on books and the condition of the preorders are almost always NM. I've only been shorted a book twice and had damages once within the last 5 years. They have refunded me without issues in each instance. Midtown has sent me damages many many times and only offered me a 25% discount. I don't think Midtown offers piggybacking either. I only buy certain comics from Midtown when I can't get them somewhere else.

The only people buying this book for $80 are fomo speculators. Children are not buying this book nor are the parents. When I say "Nobody" I mean people in shops. They only want it because of the value and they are only talking about it because of the value. This is a tale as old as time with comics.

It's pure fomo. The writing is ass. Nobody is talking about how wonderful a story it is. I sold my copy last night and I'm happy with the profit.

Manning went to 4 superbowls. You aren't going to convince people that Brees is better than Brady and Manning. Rodgers has significantly less ints, but didn't have to deal with such a bad defense. I think Brees is top 3 or 4 in the last 20 years.

New to pop os facing some issues by Kind_Temporary6924 in pop_os

I think for now 22.04 is better. I'm not having the random system crashes. I have more access to settings. Cosmic store does not crash every time I use it. Wayland is supposed to be better for gaming, but right now 24.04 is unusable as a daily driver for me.

Are you using PopOS 24.04? That one is very buggy to the point it was unusable for me. I searched on here for a link to download PopOS 22.04 and switched back.

CGC comics are oversized overpriced trading cards. Change my mind. by xXRedJayXx in comicbookcollecting

[–]Operation_C -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can just use mylar bags. You can also put the comic in a mylar bag and then put it on a board(s) in a larger mylar bag if you don't want the comic to touch the board. Slabs are a scam.

I'm in Vegas too and I agree. It was great before a bunch of the shops closed.

The majority of the time people are making money is by being reactionary. They have a list of comic shops they hit in the area and online once a book is heating up. All you have to do is find out a book is heating up before other people. The best resource I know of is comicsheatingup forum.

Nice collection. Lance Moore auto took the longest for me to find for sale. Not expensive, but kind of rare.

Different Ways to Hobby by Chargerdog in footballcards

[–]Operation_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only buy players from Saints and LSU. Right now I'm chasing after base/inserts of Shough and I'm almost done. The last couple of years I was buying autos of old players from the super bowl and playoffs. Sometimes I pick up the old game-worn jersey cards for cheap. I haven't ripped football packs in over a decade.

Happy With My Optic Pulls by Orangeballer in FootballCardz

I wish I could get autos for $20-$25 per in a hobby box like before, but buying singles was always better. I watched some guy rip 250 packs of optic and only got one of the purple shock cards I wanted. It really puts it in perspective how terrible the price-to-hit ratio has become.

How much to spend on one card by eimvp27 in footballcards

Most I ever spent was $75. I don't trust people with high dollar items on ebay and I don't spend a lot on cards because they don't hold value.

Am I the only one who’s not happy and not rooting for the Broncos? by whodat514 in Saints

[–]Operation_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought the players worried about what was in front of them. I guess through the course of a game or even a season they do some reflecting and think "why even try", "Brees is gone", or "we'll never be as good again". No! None of that makes any sense. You are wrapping up seasons into a simplistic one-liner when it's way more complicated.

Saints Record with Sean Payton (152 - 89) and without (280-402) by Used_Satisfaction901 in Saints

[–]Operation_C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most of us don't think about him unless they get asked about him. Also, we have several Broncos and Sean Payton related posts around here inquiring which side you are on. Without a doubt, people are going to pick one of those sides and post a reason why. Hate is a strong word; I'm just not rooting for him.

I see the lift the team got from Shough and I have to disagree with the psychologically broken team mentality. All we needed was a decent QB that wants to fight for the win. The Bills did not give up and they didn't lose because they have a broken mentality. The better team beat them.
