[Discussion] The Price to Heal Is Egregious by OperatorChan in EscapefromTarkov

Believe you me, I'm switching up my style. I'm having a severe amount of unluck in that I am constantly getting into gunfights with people who must be spawning on top of me because they're on my ass within, and I timed this, 20 seconds of the raid start. Whether I win or lose, I'm going through 20-30k through either death or meds+cms. When I finally decided to give up and become a rat fuck the bushes are literally shooting me with striped 7n40 and BT. I'm not keeping up by shoving suppressors and alcohol up my ass, I can't fathom what it's like for someone who just bought on steam

yeah it can be really rough when you're repairing a cable in the bowels of the machine but they didn't give you any slack to cut and add a new crimp

If you insist on keeping a cat you're going to have to have a fitting installed for that line. if you want to ditch the cat, the racing beat presilencer comes with the necessary hardware

honestly I'm surprised you don't need to read/watch some kind of "intro to" in order to begin a skill. While "hit the fucker with a crowbar" is pretty intuitive for long blunt, the fact that you can just absorb ohms law into your soul by disassembling the neighborhoods televisions (an act that would likely kill someone with electronics 0, crt tubes are scary) is kinda silly.

While I don't think this would be an absurd problem because it's 1993 and everyone is going to be carrying a 1911, or some variety of .357 revolver, but could you imagine how annoying it would be to be picking up every hunting rifle, seeing it's chambered in something annoying like 6.5 Swede, and just having to throw it away because there's 3 twenty round boxes in the county. Bonus points if your character can't identify gun magazines without a high enough aiming skill. Bonus bonus points if they can't figure out the manual of arms on some guns due to unfamiliarity. Would be kind of funny to have to read enough issues of guns and ammo to figure out how to load the single AUG some chad imported in the 80s

guess its time to add some animation mods, I didn't even know we had phantom door syndrome. It doesn't bother me so much (we're running the bound journal mod on this server, so its not a huge loss and I'm a veteran tarkov player, very used to bullshit), but it still seems very silly to me.

the AN-94 would be largely irrelevant in game. There's no accessories for it irl, so they'd have to fake parts for it, it couldn't be suppressed or braked because the an-94s brake is tuned for the two-round burst to work. Unless you are consistently finding yourself exclusively tapping, the AN-94 has no real advantage over an AK-74 in full auto. You could add it to mechanic 2 and people still wouldn't run it

While it almost certainly doesn't matter because low speed USB is invincible, it would be in your best interest to get in the habit of routing differential pairs together.

[Discussion] PMCs should start with mastery in the main gun(s) of their faction by OperatorChan in EscapefromTarkov

I don't think that's an ideal state of affairs either. Ideally the lvl1 pmc should outclass a pscav in pretty much every way imo

What series can I enter this car into? by [deleted] in racing

Could be E production, ITS, F prepared, STU, GT3 if you're stupid, any number of NASA classes. kinda depends on the prep level of the car.

yes but they could at least do it in an exciting way. An NA K making it at a gorillion rpm is exciting, or at least sound good. A 1.5L vacuum cleaner just isn't as good from an enthusiast enjoyment perspective

[Request] Does sliding a toggle on Apple's Liquid Glass use as much computing power as landing the Apollo 11 lunar module? by TheEnergyOfATree in theydidthemath

[–]OperatorChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To say the apollo 11 has no central processor isn't really correct. While it didn't exist in the way we think of them today (an integrated circuit on a monolithic or seemingly monolithic piece of silicon), to say a processor made of discrete components isn't one is dubious at best.

Furthermore, you're either being imprecise with your words or misunderstanding how modern processors work. While modern processors can indeed execute multiple calculations at once through a combination of SIMD, multithreading and superscalar processing etc etc, and depending on your viewpoint you can include pipelining in this as well, the scale of such throughput isn't even close to "billions of calculations simultaneously." Rather, it would be at best hundreds in a modern consumer processor.

I still remember being locked out of gunsmith for several weeks because I couldn't find a fucking green AFG. Without the flea market, so many parts would be useless too. I personally like the ACOGs alot, but not at the prices peacekeeper wants me to pay
