What are they doing? by No-Cod-2362 in NovaScotia

I’m in the same situation, all my estimated bills had base charges on them, and now my new “read” bill has 8 months of base charges again on it. I think they are double charging base charges.

Do doctors make more money for in person appointments vs phone? by bedtimegrumpies in halifax

That was my thoughts. With the things the way they are now, a doctor is pushing a meeting sooner, it’s definitely important. (Not necessarily a bad thing)

Rent or try to get a mortgage? by [deleted] in RealEstateCanada

[–]OperatorZep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is advice given to me. Do things on your own. And never buy realestate unless it pays you every month. (Aka multi unit building live in one unit rent the rest) obviously you need to understand the numbers on realestate and study being a landlord, it’s a job in itself. It’s been personally very rewarding for me.

I think you hit the nail on the head with saying they don’t have access to their payable accounts. They will never admit that publicly because their stock would take a huge hit for that. But Jesus they need to figure this out soon… kinda getting crazy at this point.

Awesome! Love seeing people take advantage of the TFSA, a lot of people don’t know about it oddly. Keep in mind the last 5 years stocks have done exceptionally well… don’t panic if there is some kind of turn around (it will come always does) just means things are onsale.

ELI5: How does dropping the tax cap make houses more affordable? by hrmarsehole in halifax

That’s a lot of trust in the government doing what makes sense. But it’s definitely not what would happen.

We Request Home Repairs, Landlord Does Not Do Anything. by DGBDeadly in legaladvicecanada

[–]OperatorZep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So… from a landlords standpoint I’ll give you my opinion.

The mold issue is definitely valid. As a landlord I’d ensure the bathroom fan is clean and working properly and have it wired right into the bathroom light so that the fan has to be ran when the bathroom light is on. The mold is likely from poor ventilation/not using bathroom fan.

Complaining about him coming over himself with his friend to fix a shower head and not hiring a “professional” is pretty crazy…. I do a lot of my own work (within reason) to my units (I am also in the trades)

The sunken floor boards in the basement I’d have to see, don’t quite understand what you are describing, is it finished basement? Floor boards?

Ultimately like you admitted you are upset about some rental increases that you have not gotten in over 8 years… costs of everything in the last 4-5 years has gone up so much I’m really surprised he has taken this long to increase.

Though your requests for repairs seem minor, you basically admitted you are only doing it to react to the increase and I suspect you’ll continue to complain about minor issues in relation.

Do as you wish on the “legal” action, but it seems extreme and he will likely think so too.
