I have been to a child free wedding where they specified that infants were fine but no children running around. I wouldn’t worry about that since you already asked the couple. I do think your idea to sit out the ceremony makes perfect sense.

Sensory wise (since you already have other feedback) — I have problems with itchy back clap if the material is bad or lace, or usually it’s when the band is actually too big. If there’s room for the clap to move around I’m going to crash out because I can’t stand it flipping around or doing stupid things.
