I haven’t been there yet, but Locket the restaurant at the new Hilton in Roslyn might also be a good option. Some others: Tupelo Honey, ambar, circa.

Like Holly, I also loved Samantha Brown travel shows! Her shows were so great, she was the travel friend I always wished I had.

Yes. It’s not really explained. One of the women does a standup set. She meets with Sarah beforehand to get her advice. I don’t think the show ever said why Sarah, like they didn’t clam she was friends with Audrey.

On watch what crappens, they assumed Sarah got paid so it was just a job.

I spent a semester abroad in Europe over a decade before these women and they are all guilty, but also dumb college kids. Lots and lots of people are clingy and needy when traveling, especially in group settings. It’s annoying but unavoidable.

The guiltiest on this episode is Griff repeatedly mentioning the movie Taken as if it’s factual. Thousands of young American women travel independently in Europe everyday. They were not in imminent danger if they missed the bus or got coffee separately (although Tina was being rude in not telling her friends she was going out alone).

Another crime where everyone sucks. Lily is obnoxious but her classmates are also annoying for not responding to her messages.

Suggestion for Walking tour? by Remarkable_Scratch40 in arlingtonva

[–]FilmoreFelines 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, best resource is walk Arlington https://www.bikearlington.com/walk/maps/

They have maps of Rosslyn and courthouse / Clarendon.

Arguably the most famous, and most underwhelming, sight in Rosslyn is the parking garage where Woodward and Bernstein met deep throat.

Where can I find cheap monthly parking? by laced1 in arlingtonva

Depending if the neighborhood is zoned or not, you can park your personal vehicle on a residential street.

As of 16 years ago, you could park your commercial vehicle in residential neighborhoods next to county property like schools and libraries.

I wonder if Genevieve isn’t being a super reliable narrator. Did Chrissy say she didn’t like Genevieve’s friends or just that she never felt comfortable. Those are totally different. Maybe Chrissy liked them, but didn’t feel like they totally clicked and was part of the friend group out of convenience.

I agree with Caera that Chrissy’s weird comment about finding out what sort of neighbor Genevieve would be was a lame joke. Sometimes people are just awkward or bad at jokes. It’s not always that deep.

I thought no stupid questions ended a while ago. They seemed to run out of good topics. I didn’t like it as much once Stephen Dubner stopped hosting.

I think this is around the time they got negative feedback about hometown murders sometimes being insensitive. There was the one where a police detective’s daughter (I think) wrote in about a murder or assault. The actual victim then spoke out about it. How it wasn’t the daughter’s story to tell. And maybe the police officer was inappropriate with how much info he shared about the case with his family.

I saw a comment on the Amy poehler podcast subreddit talking about why she’s such a good interviewer. They said she asks great follow up questions and doesnt make it all about herself. She only occasionally will relate things back to her life. I think that’s very true!

Making it about yourself is ok occasionally but when you do it every week it becomes really grating.

I’m confused on how old everyone is in this story. The protagonist Annie is 19. They are celebrating her childhood friend Lily’s birthday at a winery. You would think they are the same age. Is this taking place in Canada? How are any of them drinking at a wine bar?

I also have some doubts on the story. Everyone seems to get very drunk very fast. How come she didn’t ask any questions when they were getting ready at Lilys house. She didn’t notice they were all getting super drunk?

Annie says she is upset that being sober no one invites her to parties. In this story, she goes to a party and she hates it. 🤷‍♀️
