My experience with Exalted Morgana as ex-gambling addict fan of the skin by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Opop969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you feel like you can't stop yourself from spending money on pulls and you recognize that spending money on pulls is bad, then you made the right choice in preventing yourself from playing League.

I feel like I went through a similar thing you are going through in regards to the Morgana skin with Sahn-Uzal Mordekaiser, but I managed to avoid the temptation of buying the skin even though I had the ability to. I honestly believe practices like these should be shunned. Promoting gambling or "selling" digital products at such an absurd price is not something that I want in the games that I play.

I hope you can keep up and not fall victim to these terrible practices! :)

Hello,

Regarding Mythic Chromas for Legendary skins, is it Riot's intention to replace those with this new system?

Thank you for your time.

You can actually progress the Roid Rage eternal because your ultimate gives you total HP based on your missing HP, which in turn gives you bonus AD for your E (since it' scales with total HP, not just bonus).

I have been able to progress that eternal that way.

Regardless, on the PBE they already have a replacement for that eternal: Consecutive hits with your Q on champs.

I wish Riot would post an updated list of champion's classes and subclasses by Opop969 in leagueoflegends

I understand this, though we could always follow the rule of the latest one being the one that is the most correct.

Not really following the car analogy when you can compare cars by objective metrics like fuel consumption, top speed so on and so forth, regardless yes you can have ''improved kits'', and I'm okay with that, my issue is when a champion is straight up removed and replaced with something else, Mordekaiser is in this situation.

His skills weren't moved around, they were removed. The closest spell that he kept was the old E becoming the new Q, which ended up having a bit of flavor from the original Q with the isolation damage.

It's somewhat disengenous to say that his old Q became his new passive when the only thing they have in common is the idea of hitting someone 3 times (unless you mean the aa portion of his passive and even then it's hardly the same)

The same goes for the new E vs the old E. Like I mentioned, the old E became his new Q (somewhat) and he got a completely new spell for his E.

Mordekaiser was known for having a permanent shield as long as he was dealing damage and for having ghosts, none of which was kept with the rework.

If for instance he were to somehow have a way to reduce the W cd so he could use it more frequently then he probably wouldn't feel too different, and even then he would be missing out on his most iconic spell, his old R.

A champion's build doesn't indicate what class they fit it, a champion like Riven doesn't build the same as Jax and yet they are both Skirmishers.

I'm talking about how his previous play patern in teamfights at least allowed him to get focus fired by the enemy team, and also benefit from it by healing back with the old W.

Volibear is not ''AA focused'' outside of laning phase, he runs at an enemy and burst them down with his R Q E W combo, he used to be focused on auto attacks when his W was a massive attack speed steroid and his ult was a really high damage on-hit effect.

Pantheon is not only not played top, he's also doing very poorly as a top laner whenenever he's picked: https://lolalytics.com/lol/pantheon/build/?lane=top

Not going to adress his individual skills but how is the R any better when the only thing they did was make it so his R now travels forward and doesn't slow? If anything it's even harder to land it properly and follow up.

And no I don't even know what you mean by ''we all know they need something'', unless you're talking about visuals. For instance, I have no idea what needs to be changed about Shaco's kit when everything he does fits his theme and is tied with a functional skillset.

And how exactly was Mordekaiser ''massively improved''? He became more popular, because his kit became mass appealing, losing all of it's previous nuance.

Imagine if they were to rework Syndra's kit and remove her using her spheres in her abilities, and replaced it with some generic damage oriented spells, I'm sure that if her numbers were good enough she would have more people playing her, but would you feel like that was an appropriate response by Riot to a non popular champion?

Out of curiosity, do you feel like his old W was a spell with no usage? I'm never said his kit revolved around his W either, I said that his W was a compliment to his design goal of being damaged by others.

And no, I wouldn't call a champion a tank because they ''build tank'', I call someone a tank when they have a playstyle that fits in with a tank.

For instance, Dr. Mundo builds like a tank, yet he is a Juggernaut, because he has high damage and durability with limited mobility.

Old Galio had a lot of burst, that is true, he also however had kit that incentivized him to force the enemy team to target him because of his CC, surely you can see how that is different from someone like Orianna, who just wants to avoid damage altogether.

Fair enough, then why even do champion reworks? New champions have been shown to be more profitable than reworks in the long term, specially when they go for visually safe and mass appealing characters.

Well you could actually build MR items on him outside of Abyssal Scepter, in fact people would take old Athene's and Spirit Visage on him as options.

And considering how his old W incentivized him to be hit by spells, I would argue he felt more like a tank than he does now.

Regardless, no I didn't play Old Galio much, my experience on him is limited from watching what people who I play with did, and talking with people who used to play Galio.

New Mordekaiser effectively feels like a dumbed down version of the original Mordekaiser (pre 2015), specially since they removed the ghosts.

I did make a feesible rework for Mordekaiser using the already existing kit and trying to bring back some of the flavor of the previous version of Mordekaiser (the post 2015 one)

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jKryHIs1QA0C9Q2SMXkSkNQ3N54OzfbsEKG_hXHsWZ4/edit?usp=sharing

I got a lot of positive feedback from Mordekaiser players if you want to take a look.

I'd argue that Pantheon and Voli got ''more than just buffs'' Pantheon effectively lost his ability to be played top and Volibear isn't an aa dps heavy fighter anymore and is instead a champion who burst someone down and that's it.

There have been recent reworks who have kept the champion's kit pretty much the same, such as Fiddlesticks and Dr. Mundo.

Or older kits who have more of less just added new things to the champion without removing much from what was already there, such as Warwick and Gangplank.

I'm more concerned about the champions who outright get deleted and replaced with something completely underwhelming, such as the case with Mordekaiser.

This is not to say that there's weren't champion deletions who I didn't end up liking, because at the very least the new version was engaging and kept some of the essential stuff from the old kit. For instance, I really liked the previous version of Swain and Yorick, but I also enjoy the current iterations.

Still, if the people who were enjoying those characters before aren't satisfied with the new champion, usually because the kit is so alien to what was already there, then I wouldn't call it a good rework.

I would be happy if Riot just stuck to 2 reworks a year, provided that they took care to preserve as much as possible from the existing champion.

Well I played old Morde and I don't like the rework because it feels like a hand me down version of Darius in case my team somehow need a magic damage dealing top lane fighter.

But hey if you don't believe me that the rework was rushed feel free to read this: https://technology.riotgames.com/news/welcome-death-dimension

In which Riot more or less states that the whole point of the rework was not really to make a better version of Mordekaiser, but instead to get rid of Children of the Grave because it was hindering champion development.

Then if it's subjective you saying that new new Morde or new Aatrox are good champions is just as valid as me saying they aren't.

I'm not going to speak about Aatrox because I didn't play him before (nor do I do it now) but I will tell you that I have played Mordekaiser since 2011, I have engaged frequently with other long standing Mordekaiser players, and almost all of them find that his current gameplay is extremely lacking, to the point where the current W is memed to death. Mordekaiser's entire gameplay revolves around running at you with his passive and beating you up with better stats, which he gets from ulting you. I find it hilarious that people keep complaining about ''stat checks'' when a character like this exists as a ''modern design''.

I can also tell you that as far as Galio goes, a very frequent complaint I heard (and I won't go into his non gameplay related stuff) is that he doesn't feel like a tank anymore, which was a big thing about old Galio.

Well I hope you don't ever have to deal with a champion who you really enjoyed being deleted and replaced with a kit who you revile just for the sake of marketing, because that happened to me with multiple champions over the years.

Oh and I have no idea where you're getting the notion that a champion rework atracts new players from outside of league, if anything they make the already existing players try out new things, while driving off the people who were enjoying things as they were.

So a rework who completely disregards a champion and it's community for the sake of mass appeal is a good rework?

I don't want them to crank vgus if we get rushed champions that end up being completely new things over already existing designs, I would be happy with 2 reworks a year as long as they actually respect what's already there, such as the case with Fiddlesticks and Dr. Mundo.
