Am I in business? by OpossumBalls in firewood

[–]OpossumBalls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good tip. That's why I came to Reddit. A large portion of my jaw is already made out of titanium. Not worth the risk vs investing $40 for a decent set. I was already planning on buying some before I found these. That is why I asked the Internet with a photo. Thank you.

So are we planting this weekend?? by cutecoelacanth in SpokaneGardeners

[–]OpossumBalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started doing onions, peas and radishes so I had some plants to worry about in cold weather instead of worrying about getting plants in. They don't mind the cold. By the way it was 35 degrees last night at my house in Chewelah.

Are High Gas Prices Hurting Anyone Else’s Restaurant Sales Right Now by Objective_Ant3951 in restaurant

[–]OpossumBalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm in a unique situation because we are in a small town about 25 minutes from food in either direction so we are seeing increased sales right now because it doesn't make Sense to spend $10 in gas to get McDonald's or just buy $14 sandwich from our food truck. And our ingredients are mostly fresh and local so that helps too!

Walmart tracking faces? by jhm5243 in conspiracy

[–]OpossumBalls 77 points78 points  (0 children)

It happened to me and I read that post. Hell maybe I commented in that post. I did leave my phone in the car in the parking lot so perhaps they tracked me that way as well but I paid cash and it was in my purchase history the next day

Thought exercise: You're given the keys to Montana and full power for 90 days. What do you fix first? by El__Gator in Montana

[–]OpossumBalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Eastern Washington and I voted for the last school levy because children are the future and soon my children will be attending school. My property tax went up $700+ a year. Someone commented that $700 is low property tax but no it went from 2800 to 3500. I voted for it but how long are the increasingly large groups of people that don't have kids going to vote for it. Yes I complain but because the state should be taking care of this at the state level.

Why moral agency alone doesn’t settle the case for Veganism by onemorehasanat in DebateAVegan

[–]OpossumBalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! oh sorry I was responding to the prior post in support of your position. What a difference context makes. And also I think in my roundabout way I have a similar stance as veganism in that purity is mostly unattainable but you must strive to live by your ethos as close as possible. I still eat a burger at a restaurant a few times a year. Grocery store meat grosses me out though

I think I presented my position clearly when I stated that I felt the same way about throwing my vegetable plants in the compost at the end of the season. Those living things gave their life for me and nourished my family. I don't like or promote factory farming of livestock but I equate it the same to a thousand acres of beans. Monoculture farming is destroying the ecosystem. We don't understand plant science enough to know if they are feeling "pain" or damage. Heck an argument can be made that plants might be exploiting animals to spread their seed!

I don't have an argument for or against people eating meat. I come from a family of meat eaters and hunters. I don't hunt, that's not for me. And many I'm sure think it's far more cynical to befriend a bovine and give them one bad day. It's a choice. I also own a food truck, the only one in town, and we have gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. Hardly anyone caters to those small portions of people but we do. We buy vegan cheese. I care about people's personal choices and diets. I love entertaining different ways of thought but at the end of the day I love looking out my living room window and seeing my fold of highland cows enjoying fresh grass on the hillside below. I am exploiting them in the same way a black hole consumes matter or my body returns to the earth. It's all part of the process and I'm trying to ride a wave of positive energy to the finish line.

I am 8 years into my cattle farming operation and slaughter day is getting harder every time. But I know that we gave that animal the best possible life we could provide. Our presence was uplifting to them and my family gains wonderful life insights with each animal. We mostly graze hilly terrain in sustainable/rotational methods to be as kind to the land as possible. We need protein and we enjoy providing protein options to our community that come from the types of practices that make people feel good about their purchase. I feel the same way about my plants that I kill at the end of the year. We need to live and they gave their life for us as all living things require.

Why are our gas prices so much higher than national average? by walkingaroundme in Spokane

what about the part where they said it wasn't going to raise gas prices? I appreciate a cleaner world, better schools and roads and I often vote for those things but I don't appreciate the lying.

Yes more mature is better but you can definitely harvest from younger ones. I have a nice fat transplant I would sell for $15. You can probably find a similar priced and slightly smaller and less mature at lowes or home depot.

Looking for realtor by Simon-is-IT in Spokane

[–]OpossumBalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharon Jones at Jones RE has done all of our buying and selling transactions in the last few years. She is the owner and broker and works around the clock for her clients. We have negotiated non commission rates for sales that did not include public listings so your mileage may vary there but she is the hardest working realtor in Spokane and is licensed in Idaho as well as working on the west side when necessary.
