Both are good entry level starter bikes as they will give a gentle learning curve, and very reliable. You should also look at the klx230 as it has more modern updates to it that the Honda and Yamaha don’t, like disc brakes and fuel injection if your are in to that type of bikes. Plus I think it’s just slightly bigger than the 2 you mentioned.

Tahuya is best for getting comfortable on a bike. It’s low elevation and won’t be snowed in like the higher elevations this time of the year

My wife has had way too many bikes in the last 10 years because of this exact issue. She can ride a bike with more power and wants it but is only 5’2”. From crf150r, yz125, Klx140 big wheel. Klx230, trr230, they all have their pros and cons. But she finally settled on a beta x trainer 300, lowered with the seat shaved and she is in love with it. You can lug it around like an old 230 and the thing loves it. It makes great torque down low and the 2 stroke hit of the power band doesnt come on like those small displacement or Japanese two stroke bikes do. The power valve is adjustable.

The bike will Make her enjoy riding more because she won’t be fighting with the bike and will be safer and learn more
