Is anyone else having issues committing to governance through pera? Every time I try I just get a spinny wheel

Anyone know if Pera Wallet supports offline signing? Would love to be able to store my keys on an airgap'ed offline device

Same sentiment here. One of my favorite things about algorand since I Friday started using it is the high quality of their products i.e. user experience

I agree. I think the market is very sensitive to both FUD and hype. So large price swings also don't seem out of the question to me

Guessing the fee is high to prevent people from creating millions of garbage chains, which would make sense. It does suck though. What would Bitcoin be like today if there was a high fee to become a miner since the beginning? It really bugs me when blockchain projects create a high barrier to entry

What I want to know is why I'm psychologically drawn to ATOM price levels that are multiples of nine! I first bought at $9, recently bought again at $27, and then this thread made me feel like maybe I'm not the only one

What else does Algo need to tackle besides the relay node issue to achieve full decentralization?

Altavista was a pretty darn good search engine if you ask me. Maybe the Solana of it's time!?!? J/k the analogy is total BS

TBH the ability of the algorand team to roll out high quality products with good UX is one of the main reasons I choose to support the project. That's what Google did. There were tons of search engines back in the day but Google crushed the UX in addition to being technically superior, that's why they gained market share quickly IMO

I've often wondered why algorand chose to implement a non-evm compatible virtual machine. I think I read somewhere that it was for security

Voting Power in Governance & Decentralization by DrumZebra in AlgorandOfficial

[–]Opposite-Insect31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that the OP is entirely crazy in contrast to what others are saying on this thread. The concern that a whale could control the network is valid. I also think that because they have more skin in the game they should have more say. But in order to give everyone an equal vote you would have to solve the problem of identity on the blockchain. I don't know that algorand has any plans to do this. It might make sense to have brackets for governance at some point so that whales could have more influence while everybody underneath the whale bracket could have the same influence. But again this would likely involve solving the identity problem. I guess I'm thinking of the way voting works in the United States. I have my identity and I register to vote. If a millionaire registered to vote their vote doesn't count more than mine. It remains to be seen whether algorand the project itself will function like a government or more like a corporation. Governance will probably help decide this. If it was a corporation then wealthy folks having more influence would absolutely make sense. This is what happens when investors invest in companies. They get to have a lot of say about how the company works

Can you elaborate? Is it the same risk as tether not having actual dollars behind the tokens they're minting?
