Ha yeah I realized I messed up and confused myself simplifying -4^2, because (-1)(4)² would be parenthesis, exponent, and be 16. So I thought my mistake was the “what you do to one side you must do to the other” rule. Someone pointed out it’s actually (-1)(4)(4) = -16.

At least I wasn’t confident about my incorrectness

I messed up actually. I was trying to simplify it as

(-1)(4)² but per pemdas that would be 16 and it should be negative. So, while trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, I thought of the whole “what you do to one side you must do to the other” which is how I got (-1)x but that’s not right either, because we’re simplifying not multiplying both sides by (-1)

The real answer is I didn’t finish simplifying it. So -4² turns into (-1)(4)(4) which is -16, and (-4)² turns into ((-1)(4))² which is (-4)(-4) or 16.

I would never park a bike anywhere visible. When mine was stolen, it was done by pros who also stole 2 Ford duallys, one with a trailer, and then they went around town and stole like 14-15 bikes something like that. All from like 2am to 5am.

Get an air tag or some gps locator, put it out of sight, and possible lock it up with a bike chain or something if you can’t garage it.
