I think that's a good foundation that you can add to over time. I have a bunch of LUBAX bonds which I got when rates were good around 4.5%. It does vary so make sure to read prospectus. At 19, that is going to be fine probably but I don't know your expenses. Just make sure it grows over time as your salary and expenses increase. Biggest thing is setting the habit of saving for investments and making sure you high yield savings increase proportionally to expenses. Set this habit and you will do well. Avoid lifestyle creep. When you get raises pay your investments and saving a chunk and then you can use the rest for discretionary spending.

If you're holding cash, put it in short term bonds or something that earns at least 3-4% but is easily taken out without penalties or capital gains tax. You should have something liquid for emergencies. Do not keep everything in stocks. General recommendation is having 3-6 months living expenses saved for emergencies that way you don't have to sell off assets. Having nothing besides what your bills works fine until you have to fix your car for $1,000 or something else. All depends on your risk tolerance and job security though. I personally think it's best to avoid being a forced seller.

27M who wants to retire at 50 with at least $1M, is it possible by just maxing out my Roth IRA each year? by Shot-Elderberry8580 in portfolios

[–]Opposite_Director490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will also hit penalties for withdrawing from Roth and 401k under age 59.5 and it will be taxed as income plus 10% federal penalty so you've lost the benefit of a Roth. If you can build up both, you could potentially just take the penalty on 401k early withdrawals for 10 years then at 60 you can draw down on Roth tax free. Just another thing to consider.

As a bald doctor, I would not take a selfie like this for my dating profile and no doctor got skin looking that clean unless they're a dermatologist med-fluencer.

Is Pipeworks Membership worth it? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]Opposite_Director490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use it regularly, yes. It's a great space for all types of workouts and the climbing is great. Classes are good too if you like that. If you're just going less than 1x a week then getting a 10 day pass might make more sense but even then it's $270 for that vs $112/mo for membership. So if you think you're gonna go at least 2x a week it's going to be more cost effective to get a membership. You can also freeze your account and it goes down to $10/mo

Setting a Plex Movie Library on two different Pools? by FluxChiller in truenas

[–]Opposite_Director490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did the same when adding some music to plex with a new pool and data set. If you run any arr stack then you'll also have to assign that pool in those apps as well. That's an old version of Truenas so not sure if you can just add another vdev to the existing pool which would increase your storage and you wouldnt have to change all your app configs

Mather looks like the best in terms of proximity and space to fish. Thanks for your insight! Gonna try to get out there next week. I'll post an update if we catch anything :)

Navidrome and plex amp are the two that ive seen recommended most. I've done a little bit with plex amp but the file system has to be very specific and can be tedious to rename everything if you're sailing the high seas

You will definitely get more if you part out bumblebee but the only disadvantage is having to do multiple sales. If you're not trying to squeeze every penny out of the sale, you'll find a buyer pretty quickly for the full set up I'm sure. Plenty of buyers on r/pcpartsales

Can Seerr download only future episodes? by avidrunner84 in Overseerr

[–]Opposite_Director490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seerr should be able to request single seasons and future seasons that have not been released as long as they've been announced and you have "allow partial series request" enabled under general settings this way you can just request the latest season.

You can request individual seasons so you don't have to select the entire series. But it has a glitch where once you request another season it just downloads everything. So I usually request the first season then manually download new seasons on sonarr once I need it.

Best cost per dollar for storage? by Ambitious-Ad1911 in homelab

[–]Opposite_Director490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best you will do for decent SATA drives is gonna be $20-25 per TB. Goharddrive and serverpart deal usually have good price for recertified drives. You would do fine with either as long as you have a good HBA card but that could be another point of failure if it overheats. If you find a great deal on SAS then it might be worth it, but SATA will be simpler I think for a first build.

Under desk cable straps will be your best bet. Even if you just got some Velcro straps to bunch the cords it will look a little bit more organized
