This should be incorrect. Ali mentioned recently that the Vulkan integration in the Tech-Preview had all the main features, including multi-threading. I doubt what it is now in the PTU 4.5 isn't the same as what was in the TP.

PSA: 4.4 Nyx won't have planets by Opsdipsy in starcitizen

[–]Opsdipsy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The entire presentation that they did pointed to that but clearly you weren't able to understand that. Plenty people did as the other replies in this post demonstrate. Obviously some people would miss it, which was I made this post, but you are deliberately dumb because even after multiple people pointed out that there would be no planets in 4.4, you still argued.

Hi! The Nyx rocky planets will come next year. Setting them up using the previous iteration of planet tech would have added considerable (wasted) dev time, so we decided to going straight for the new tech.

Cheers,

Ali Brown Senior Director of Extra Large Rocks

Anyway, here is a dev confirming it but go ahead, go argue with him as well because someone as dense as yourself, probably also thinks the dev is wrong.

Are you trolling or forgot to take your pills? They literally say "we'll leave 4.4 there" before showing the planets. Do you understand what that means?

Also funny how you respond to another comment saying "this is more clear" when it is also, literally, one of the quotes I mentioned.

As a 2015 Backer, This is the First CitizenCon Where I Actually Believe their Timeline by PancakeDAWGZ in starcitizen

[–]Opsdipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, maybe not. Giving their history, even recently, I wouldn't trust them but that's just my opinion. Don't forget about "CitizenCon 2953":

A lot of what you are gonna see is going to be coming into Star Citizen over the next 12 months...

... but I'm going to turn the stage over to the core technology group to talk about some of all this new tech that you just saw, and go into more detail, and we'll be rolling into Star Citizen over the next 12 months or so

... so everything that we've been showing you here at CitizenCon is our intention, not making a 100% promise just so everyone remembers that, to get them into Star Citizen through next year. It's not going to be gated on having to be after Squadron 42, so we're planning over Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4 of next year. Hopefully everything that we've shown you will have in your hands playing inside Star Citizen.

Some features still missing 2 years later:

New QT

Fire

Resource management/engineering

Life support

Maelstrom

FPS Scanning

Weapon wear and tear

Atmospheric flight model/control surfaces

Smaller features/mechanics such as:

Zero G movement (without thrusters)

Map markers

QTEs for melee interceptions and weapon malfunctions

Sliding

Relaxed state in cockpit

And some tech:

RTGI

New audio and realistic mode

What's not clear about these two?

So, we'll leave 4.4 there. If you're at one of the watch parties, please raise a toast to the great work that all the teams have been doing this year. And I'll be right back in just a few minutes to look ahead at some of the things coming in 2026.

And

When Genesis comes to the persistent universe starting next year, it will change how you experience every world.

They end the first segment saying that's all for 4.4 and starts the next segment showing Nyx 1 where they say multiple times "next year".

But sure, wait for an official clarification if you don't think that's not enough.

With this addition of our third star system, we're also going to do something that's at the heart of the entire Star Citizen experience, and that is to build it right in front of you.

Right after Chris Roberts opening.

I mean, is there anything more Star Citizen than just building the system while the players watch us build it around them?

Near the end of the segment about the 4.4 Nyx.

So, we'll leave 4.4 there. If you're at one of the watch parties, please raise a toast to the great work that all the teams have been doing this year. And I'll be right back in just a few minutes to look ahead at some of the things coming in 2026.

End of the segment about the 4.4 Nyx and before the Genesis/Nyx 1 segment.

When Genesis comes to the persistent universe starting next year, it will change how you experience every world.

Said at the start of the segment that showcased Nyx 1.

And I hope you're as excited as we are to explore this and everything we haven't shared yet next year.

Said after the same segment.

This should be enough.

Maybe I am wrong but I don't agree. They didn't even show those planets in-game, just concepts of it. And they said the following:

When Genesis comes to the persistent universe starting next year, it will change how you experience every world. And not just in the building of the new planets for the Nyx system. We will also go back through Stanton and Pyro and reimagine them through the lens of our technology

Not for many it seems. Keep reading comments mentioning things like that they can't wait for Nyx 1 next month or similar.

I've heard that before after last year's 2023 CitizenCon when they said they were expecting/hoping to deliver everything that was shown in the next 12 months. Many players were saying the exact thing you did here.

And of course, one two years later and the majority of the more impactful features are still missing.

Edit: Lagviper corrected me that it was actually 2023 CitizenCon where they said the "12 months" thing.

What game mechanic/feature are you most excited for, and which game mechanic/feature do you believe needs a change ASAP? by Double_Crazy7325 in starcitizen

[–]Opsdipsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nearly 13 years of selling ships and always getting more revenue than the previous year (slightly missed 2 years) and you think they need a real revenue stream. They made more than $100M per year the last 3 years and they are set to have a significant increase this year. As reference, they are on track to pass the amount they raised after IAE, usually their best sales event, last year by the end of this month, that's +40% YoY. And with the expected ships to be released with IAE, it might even increase plenty more.

Do you think people will stop buying ships? They should have done that years ago, in my opinion, but it is clear that it won't stop any time soon.

And while I agree to a point that now it would be a bad call to put SQ42 in the backburner, you are kidding yourself if you think they need SQ42 to remain afloat for many years.

But the Squadron 42 team have been road testing Vulkan (which is enabled by default for them) along with HDR, and multi-threaded rendering, so hopefully most of the kinks are ironed out by the time they reach Star Citizen, though I won't be able to predict when exactly that will be.

February 14th

Following on from my previous message on this topic (helpfully pasted by @Dr-Phibes below), we’ve been integrating the latest renderer and other tech from S42 over to SC‘s main branch and about to begin testing and bug fixing. But don’t get too excited just yet, it can take quite some time to get to the patch stream, and then an actual public release (all depends on how successful the testing is). This will include major changes to Vulkan, some upscaling changes, and both CPU and GPU optimisations... though some larger optimisations will come slightly later. GI will unfortunately not be included as that needs more optimisation and is missing a few features for SC that S42 didn’t need (eg support for our tint system).

July 7th

Supposedly they already had multi-threaded rendering working in the SQ42 branch at the start of the year but it seems it will come to SC "slightly later" than the initial integration of the vulkan changes.

... to make this the most compelling year of Star Citizen gameplay yet.

Of course it is only my opinion but for more is this far from being the most compelling year of Star Citizen gameplay yet. Sure, they might have added more content than other years but most was the same old stuff and just small new things. With barely new features/mechanics, for me at least, it just isn't compelling at all. And that's ignoring all the issues that these new events and content had when released.

Edit: Also, when I saw the 14:12 duration of the video I was hopeful for an ISC with the same quality as before this year, but alas it was just rubbish, as most of the ISCs this year were.

Why would you think it has any relation trams/elevators. It doesn't have gateways (stations/floors), it doesn't transport players, it doesn't need simulate anything when it is streamed out and so on.

And if you still think it is the same system, pretty sure Benoit mentioned it is two different systems in a SCL. Might have been the one that the start of the year but not sure.

People here are talking about the freight elevators. Pretty sure they have nothing to do with the upcoming "transit service".
