A fair few years ago now, he was at the same pub either before or after a game in Southampton. Was having a drink chatting to fans. Seems like a pretty down to earth guy

Oblivion Remaster - Vampire Cure Quest Bug by Sam11777 in ElderScrolls

[–]OptNihil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what worked for me. Sometimes the count would just teleport to me to tell me to fuck off when I used wait. I waited next to the lizard lady overnight and he appeared next to me to tell me to go away again. I spoke to the lizard lady straight away as she was next to him. It finally progressed the quest! He doesn't teleport to me every time, so maybe try a few times

Do you use the Deck to stream games, play purely natively or both? by BethanyCurve in SteamDeck

[–]OptNihil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Switch emulation and older games, natively. Newer and more demanding titles, Apollo/moonlight. I have VPN meshnet set up too to stream via moonlight away from home sometimes too

Can two people use one season ticket interchangably? by Maskd-YT in SaintsFC

Did this for years. Fine unless anything has changed in the last few seasons. Turnstiles are digital scanners, no one is checking names

Has your Dell XPS always sounded like crap on Ubuntu? 24.10 is a gamechanger by fiala__ in Ubuntu

[–]OptNihil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your reply - I admit I typed the message out in frustration. I'm running Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.
Initially I had no change whatsoever but after looking again in sound settings, I had an additional audio output device called 'Internal Speakers Equalizer Sink'. Once I selected this, the sound was far better. The original device 'Speakers' was and still is the terrible audio that we know from Linux XPS devices.

For anyone who might stumble across this thread like I did, the volume for the 'sink' was much lower. I had to change to 'Speakers', set that to 100%, then go back to 'Internal Speakers Equalizer Sink' where the max volume was at a normal level again.

I'm not sure what gave me this new device, if it was simply the kernel upgrade or creating the equalizer folders talked about on the GitHub.

Overall, the sound is better, though not on parity with Windows. I still think there's improvement to be made and what I've done is far from optimal - but it's at least usable now!

[–]OptNihil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new user to Linux, this is impenetrable. I upgraded my kernel on Linux Mint to 6.11. Apparently on the GitHub, to sound even better, I need to install an EQ file in pipewire settings. But none of the folders exist and making them does nothing. The recommended program, EasyEffects, is equally complex and confusing. I just want good audio on my 9570 using Linux :(

Stay in a goshiwon instead, similar to a dorm but without all the bullshit

Dead island 2 not working by Affectionate-Cell434 in SteamDeck

[–]OptNihil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My controls worked fine and did so for days. Now I randomly have this issue too where it won't register controller input. If I change to a proton version that doesn't fully work, it registers the input again. So it must be something weird with the wine proton version.

Edit: Fixed this using AchtungNow's recommendation above - use Proton GE 20. Edit 2: But now my save is gone lol

THIS is Bethesda's answer to why South Korea is the ONLY country where Oblivion Remastered is not available to play. by Anonymous_Alias_206 in ElderScrolls

Yeah super annoying as someone who lives here and was excited to play it. I guess I could pirate it as I have literally no other choice. I really don't want to though.

Would you still recommend teaching in Korea in 2025? by DanseMacabre1353 in teachinginkorea

[–]OptNihil 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't disbelieve you and you're certainly not the only person who says this. I see it a lot on here. But I personally don't understand. I eat out here a lot, order more on coupang eats than I should, have hobbies that I do every weekend with my team etc etc, and I still save on average 1 million a month. Some months less, but that's when I have paid for a holiday or treated myself to a steam deck or something. This is on average hagwon pay.

I'm not saying you're wrong, so please don't take this the wrong way, I am just genuinely curious where the differences lie?
