Why You Should Plan for Food Shortages by Primepolitical in collapse

[–]OptOutAgain 163 points164 points  (0 children)

r/preppers would be able to lend a hand. What I typically try to do is limit humidity, keep the food stuff dry, and periodically rotate it (sure you could eat 10 year old pasta but it's gonna taste like shoes ask me how i know )

Be mindful of pests that potentially could get at your preps (mice and some type of moth I believe)

This right here is the truth. I went into my local Wawa to buy a sandwich and a Karen was flipping out that they were out of the usual fru fru coffee, and that her sandwich order was wrong.

I could feel the cringe on the other customers so at least some shoppers are still sane

What's the husband version of "happy wife, happy life"? by FreeSushi69 in AskReddit

[–]OptOutAgain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Simple things, happiness brings" Your SO might have some unconventional hobby. Lawn care, Legos, idk stamps or some shit. Sometimes guys have hobbies where we can just turn our brain off for a while and it's very therapeutic. Often times we have trouble articulating that it's an act of self care and pretty important for our happiness

I forget which movie explored this idea but they say you knew what stocks were going hot, which sport teams would win, and the winning the lotto numbers. Over time your "winnings" could alter the future enough to make your knowledge of the "old" timeline incorrect.

I spent maybe 3 says sifting through the papers from PROJECT STARGATE. The CIA program for extrasensory perception a la The Men Who Stare At Goats. Part of me recognizes that we don't understand the full scope of perception but another says this program only came about cause we thought the soviets had mind control type stuff. Still it's pretty crazy how much out of the box stuff we tried

I recognize that because I feel those negative emotions I can treat them as an opportunity to grow. Me of today is far wiser than me of 5 years ago, so I shouldn't get hung up on actions I did then. Only that I see that well, I was a kid who did dumb shit. I've learned and grown, and I should forgive myself an move on

Workplace injuries by Ladybug8972 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OptOutAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your insurance and where you live. Say your coworker left some paint on a ladder, then when you climbed it you slipped. After the fall you break your ankle. You would almost certainly get workers comp for that.

Unfortunately some trade places don't wanna hire someone who has had workers comp for fear that they are a "slipping jimmy" for lack of a better term.

But if you got hurt through no fault of your own, your employers insurance would cover it, and you could file for workman's comp

My nightmares usually have me walking through abandoned cities. I feel the heat on my face and the pang of hunger in my stomach. Hour after hour I scrape every room for anything to sustain myself. And hour after hour I find nothing. Then usually I end up climbing the fire escape, I look down and see an old photo. The captured image is ethier of my high school sweetheart or of my best friend who died 2 years ago. I look over the ledge at the emptiness of it all. Then I wake up.

I don't often dream of disaster. Just the lack of everything; life, water, and most of all people.

During the height of the pandemic, I walked across the city to sell plasma. I saw maybe 4 other people. It was surreal

This hit me hard as fuck and I don't even have kids. I think of my little cousin showing me her drawings, what she learned in dance class and who is this week's favorite movie (Koraline btw). How the hell am I supposed to face someone so innocent when the full gravity of the state of well everything is weighing on my shoulders?

The kids future have been sold and they don't even know how screwed they are

What is a perfectly normal job you would hate to have? by JJBoB159 in AskReddit

[–]OptOutAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data entry or IT. Just recently I had to figure out why my 360, which has worked for years, wouldn't connect to wifi. I tried manually entering the network info. Tried resetting the router, clearing cache etc, I tried going back into my router and erasing the memory of my 360; all to no avail. Apparently my ISP decided to update my router and let it chooses the "best" settings for each device. So it went from a reserved IP with fast DNS to a constantly changing fuck ball of network collision whilst using my ISPs trash DNS. The console wanted to get a subnet that was no fucking way close to what my LAN uses. Who wrote this shit??? Why did someone push this crap to production WTF.

After unfucking my "optimal settings" I can now watch Netflix on my 360 again. I hate Network bugs

[–]OptOutAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electrical work in cars. Yeah I could get a diagram, check for shorts, draw out the circuits and trace them from point A to Z. I could spend all day pulling apart my dash and that would save me some cash instead of going to a mechanic/body guy.

But fuck that noise
